Are you applying for UMSON CNL Fall 2019 program?

Wow @jbrow459! You have a really cool background. I'm sure the admissions committee will think it's unique and compelling. I've got my fingers crossed for you!

I'm taking chemistry and statistics this semester, too. A little overwhelmed with the idea of taking these two at the same time, but in the end, I can handle it. Good luck to you this semester and keep us updated about your application! I'm hopeful you'll hear something first and then hopefully I will too.

Anyone have updates?

Nothing new here. Today is the priority deadline, so hopefully we won't be kept in suspense much longer! I've been sidetracked by Georgetown by the last several days--I had to have a transcript re-sent, and the professor who was going to write my recommendation is totally unresponsive. Ugh!£

Oh man, @jbrow459, that sucks about the recommendation. It can be stressful enough just asking for it but then when they aren't responsive, that's even worse. Sending you good luck you'll get it soon! When do you expect to hear from Georgetown? I did their CNL info webinar yesterday and they said March. Does that sound right to you?

I noticed they updated the UMSON CNL page on the website, so at least progress is being made. We just have to keep waiting.

Anyone as nervous as I am? I'm still surprised this thread doesn't have very many comments on it given that the application cycle is in full swing. Anyone hear anything about their application? Anyone get an interview yet? My app has been Committee Ready for 4 weeks now... I'm wondering if I should call UMSON and see what's going on.

@elegantcheese, I know what you mean! I'm feeling somewhat discouraged right now. Also, to answer your question about Georgetown, March is what I was told too. They don't do rolling admission there. Instead, they release all their decisions at the same time. Today is their final deadline, and my professor still hasn't submitted my recommendation! I don't go to that campus any more, but I decided to go in yesterday so I could catch him in person, and he promised to get it in that afternoon. It's still not in. Ugh. If my application is incomplete there, then UMD is my only other option, and I'm not feeling good about my chances right now. If you decide to call, please share what you find out--if I get a chance today, I might do the same.

Ok, I called. The woman I spoke with was really nice but I didn't get any more information than what we already know. She said faculty just started reviewing the applications as of Feb 1, so it could still be a couple of weeks before we hear about next steps. I'm hoping that since we had our applications in before this priority deadline that we'll hear something sooner rather than later.

@jbrow459 I really hope your professor gets that in for you ASAP. It would be so unfortunate to not be accepted because of something that is literally out of your control. Sending you good vibes that it will all work out for you. Have you tried calling to confirm if the recommendation is there? Maybe the system is lagging and it's there and just hasn't updated yet?

Thanks for sharing that info! Rolling admission is so strange--it would be nice if you actually got a decision as you applied, but it really doesn't seem to work that way.

Thanks for the good vibes about Georgetown. I emailed the CNL dean (he's been very accessible throughout the admissions process) and he assured me that I would not be penalized for something out of my control, not to worry. I was very glad to hear that!

Hi guys! I've also applied to UMSON for Fall 2019. I submitted everything on February 1st. I received a strange email on 2/5 to set up a UMID account, but I haven't even received an interview yet. Anyway I'm still "Committee Ready" as well.

@ndannic Was it an email to set up your SURFS account so you can check on your application status or is it for something different? On another note, what's your background? Are you done with your prereqs? Thanks for checking in and please keep us posted!

The email said it wasn't an admission letter but it was used to access SURFS, Financial Aid, Registration, Transcripts etc..I just found it odd because I can easily check on my application status via the schools webpage. I guess I don't understand the point in having access to the rest of that information until I'm officially accepted into the program.

I'm from LA majoring in Public Health. I graduate in May, so I had to take my prereqs during my regular school semester. Summer 2018 I took 12 units, and Fall 2018 I was enrolled in 28 units (will never do that again ?). When I first stated school it was a bit of a challenge. I struggled my first few semesters. However, I've been on the Deans list for 2 years with a 3.8 GPA. My prereqs are completed..GPA 3.6. Currently I'm a caregiver working in a Dementia facility. I'm a volunteer EMT, and I also volunteer at an HIV/AIDS Clinic.

That is a bit confusing @ndannic. You have a strong background! Good luck and keep us posted if you hear anything.
