UMSON BSN Spring 2014

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hi everyone! I created the BSN Fall 2013 topic, but I couldn't apply at that time due to family issues. So now I'm applying for Spring 2014! Anyone else applying? :]

It is best to answer all the questions, they will give you scratch paper, and NO calculators. I got 90%, and would say the most random/difficult section was the science.

I got an email from UMSON saying that EN 102 wouldn't fulfill the English requirement and only EN 109 would. How can they tell me this now? That class isn't offered over the winter! They said if I get accepted that I have to take that class before Spring semester starts :((

Perhaps another community college is an option. Many even offer it online over winter break. Cheer up! You still have options.

Thank you Chelsea13! You're classes are much cheaper compared to where I live. For the American Red Cross, the course costs $110. I guess it's different depending on where you live.

Definitely do what 1hopefulchik suggested! All hope is NOT lost.

I suggest you check what the equivalent is at UMUC (WRTG293, I believe) and take it there.

I've taken multiple classes with them and they were all online 8-week sessions. The only thing that sucks is that they cost $200 more than MC classes, BUT they offer monthly payment plans through Sallie Mae which is awesome.

I'm sure it'll work out, stay positive. Best of luck and keep us updated! :)

schang, be sure you're taking just the cpr/aed class, I noticed the class I was going to take was originally 120 but it's because it has a first aid class rolled into it. I decided to take this one actually, it seemed like it's be good to be certified in first aid as well as cpr/aed.

The closest class to me that is held in late october (to be in the 3 month window) is all the way in stevensville over the bay bridge, so it's a bit of a hike!

Hey yall! I know I'm late to the party, but I've also applied for spring 2014. Finished my app back in july and got the 'committee ready' status on my application. Very excited! Now still (patiently) waiting for November to come around. good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone !!!!

I've also applied for Spring 2014. The waiting will be stressful, but thanks to this blog we can vent here. Good luck to everyone !!!!:)

Well my friends, ARTSYS has failed us again! I have to take college algebra because my precalc doesn't transfer, despite ARTSYS saying it does.

I debating whether to take it over the winter or with my already full course load. Those of you who have to take your English's over, what are you doing?

UMSON really needs to post course equivalencies from the majority of schools people transfer from. I'm unsure what I'm going to do about my English course if it isn't offered over the winter. I might have to apply to another school to take an EN course over there. If not, I might try Chamberlain :/

cmg, you may want to consider taking it at another community college. I talked to UMSON because I was worried the college algebra class wasn't going to be offered over the winter @ AACC (which thank goodness, a section was just added) They said I could take it at CCBC if I need to. So that is an option.

I have my heart set on University of Maryland!

Suddenly I'm not feeling not so hopeful.

The thought of my less than stellar college grades just over 20 years ago is starting to bum me out. My current grades are good but the past ones- not so much! I'm worried those grades will knock my gpa out of contention.

I really, really look forward to being admitted to UMSON! I believe it'll be a really good learning experience that will prepare me for the level or nursing expertise I want to achieve.

My status is still at 'COMPLETE READY FOR REVIEW' and I'm worried about making it to committee. :bag:

1Hopefulchik!

Hopeful is in your name, don't lose it!

Remember, UMD looks at applicants as a whole. Everything about your application will be taken into consideration. Stay hopeful because it's the only thing we can do until we hear back.

We're only 4 days into waiting and we're all already starting to crack! Haha!

BTW, sorry I post so much guys, I just want to cheer you all on and stay in contact because the wait is killin' me :D
