UMSON BSN Spring 2014

Published

Hi everyone! I created the BSN Fall 2013 topic, but I couldn't apply at that time due to family issues. So now I'm applying for Spring 2014! Anyone else applying? :]

They are extremely vague when it comes to the bottom line cost. My friend started this past spring and estimated it was ~5500 for the semester.

Egad! I noticed the fees are almost as much as the tuition. :uhoh3:

UMMC has a summer internship-like program that you would able to do that us CNL cannot because we have summer courses. Info about that here Nursing Fellowships For Your Career Development In Nursing - UMMC | University of Maryland Medical Center under Student Nurse Residency Program.

I noticed that too. Maybe by the next summer I can participate. I'd love to take advantage of the opportunity but right now, summer courses are a no-no.

Are UMBC pre nursing students given priority over other applicants?

If the student is enrolled in the 2 + 2 program at UMBC or at UM College Park and has met all the criteria for that program, they are guaranteed one of a limited number of slots reserved for them in our program. But if they are not in the 2 + 2 program they are in the same applicant pool as everyone else. If a 2 + 2 student does not meet all the requirements of the program or decides not to come to our program, that slot is no longer reserved and is available for the entire applicant pool. The actual numbers of how many students are admitted under this program is quite low.

Wow! If I knew that, I would have done things differently!!!!

Grey Lady- is that information posted online somewhere others can read up on it?

It's not on the UM SON website - it would be on UMBC's or UMCP's if it is there at all. It's a very small program - you have to do some digging to find the right counselors to speak with.

Hello all!

I am also waiting anxiously for the decisions for this upcoming semester. Like many of you, University of Maryland is my number one choice! Reading everything you all have said has made me even more anxious than I was before! I'm hoping to be part of the upcoming nursing class with you all! Good luck with everything. :)

UMCP's info is at prehealth.umd.edu and look for nursing. I wish I had known then I wanted to be a nurse but alas, all things happen for a reason. I have a few friends who did the 2+2 route @ UMCP.

I know it's only mid-October, but I'm extremely anxious! I don't feel like I did well enough in school in order to even be considered. That may sound a little harsh, but I'm extremely nervous.

I agree with you @madmanuelle!!! I also feel the same way :/

I'm so nervous!!!
