I just spoke to the counselor at Newark, Mae... she said the school has never accepted someone into the program with an undergrad GPA under 3.0. Bummer..

the person i spoke to wasn't Mae, although Mae did basically say the same thing. I guess the person I spoke to yesterday was some other administrative staff person.

I had a class mate that moved to the Stratford area from Newark her last semester and she was able to transfer fine. You just have to speak to people at NEwark and explain you situation.

Hii i had a quick question. So i went to an info sessson at newark for the accelerated bsn program and i was wondering what are my chances of getting in to the fall 2010 program? I'm taking ap summer 1 and ap summer 2 & micro summer 2 so i should be done aug 17 [before fall begins] and i read that the program doesnt look at an application until all prereqs are done but i spoke to someone at the info session and she said i could still apply even though it's cutting it close to the aug 1 deadline. I have a 3.5 overall gpa, 3.25 sci and the pre-reqs i took so far my gpa is over a 3.0. What are my chances of getting accepted to the fall if i apply right before aug 1?

Yes, you should actually apply now and have everything in well before the August 1st deadline (and double check that with the admissions office - they "misplaced" several of my documents last fall). So, make sure they have all your transcripts, your health records, your proof of AHA BLS, letter of recommendation.

What you have to do then is get letters from your professors in second session summer school with a progress report (for the last two classes that you are taking) and have those in before the Aug. 1 deadline. They have to be on college letterhead (there is not a standard form) and have to include your name, the course, your grade to date, the liklihood of you receiving a "B" or better for the class based on your progress, the instructors name and full contact information for the instructor.

I did that for the remaining pre-reqs that I was taking last fall (for a Jan, 2010 start) and had it in 3 weeks before the deadline. A little harder with summer school because of the short time frame, but push it through by the Aug 1 deadline and they should consider you.

At that point, the biggest factor is availability of spots. They always get more applicants than openings. But, if you have met all the prereqs and have the GPA, you should get in. But, it may not be in the fall if they are full. They will tell you that you're accepted and offer you the next opening - January.

thanks for the insight! so if i submit my application like personal statement, letters, transcript and everything ASAP and then when i start summer session 2, get my professors to write letters like 2 weeks before Aug 1 deadline, do you think i still have a shot to get in for fall 2010? I'm just really worried about seats being filled but I figured they wouldn't all be full since the final deadline is Aug 1 so I would think they would have a couple of seats left for the last round of applicants and if I do really well on my pre-reqs like As & Bs, do you think I can still be considered for fall 2010? I just want to know realistically what are my chances of getting in because I really want to go to UMDNJ and start in September.

I really cannot say how good your chances are because it really depends on how many applicants they have for the fall semester. I think they get the most applicants for the fall (as compared to the spring and summer start date). If you get everything in ahead of time and have the progress reports in by the Aug. 1 deadline, then your chances should be good unless they simply have already filled all the slots.

Unfortunately, I did not have success getting any kind of a "read" on whether they were at capacity when I was applying....just had to wait. They keep the information about applicants pretty close to the vest.

Smoothie did u get in?? I will be in the same boat this spring and summer since I do not finish prereqs until august 16th and I am applying for september 2011 start. I will submit all of my application this may and have my professors send summer midterm grades but I am scared to death that I won't get in. I have a 3.5 undergrad gpa and know I can rock these prereqs plus I have a good resume. I've been working in pharma and med device marketing for 4 years since I graduated. Hoping they see me as a good candidate!
