U.S.A. New Jersey

Hi everyone! Is there anyone who can provide information on the accelerated BSN program at UMDNJ? I would like to know how durable is the program- the good, the bad and the ugly. What GPA is required for admission and how soon does one have to apply? Thanks- any info would be appreciated:chuckle

Kitty: Thanks. Orientation is for 2 full days and don't get what we could possibly do for those 2 8 hour days.

I'm curious too...

Orientation is a whirlwind of information- day one was TEAS testing for us as well as a writing test. Day two you will meet everyone associated with the program as well as UMD itself- Dr Tate, some professors, security, financial aid, IT, etc. It is trying, but pay attention to each presenter; alot of good info, but alot of info for one day.

Wait, huh? We are taking the TEAS and a writing test on Day 1 of orientation?

I applied to Newark too and am waiting to hear back...does anyone know about the program? Is it reputable? I went to visit the school the other day to drop some papers off (so they weren't lost...AGAIN) and to be honest, the campus was kind of ******...everything looked very run down and the people aren't very pleasant either.... anyone else have any opinions/thoughts? lol

I got accepted for the Spring 2011 semester back in October. But they lost your papers too? I had to hand in my papers too because they claimed they never got it. :lol2: The outside isn't appealing, but when I got inside, it was well kept. I don't like Newark, period. I've heard good things about the program though and that's what matters most.

They accept students in different waves, so wish you the best. As long as you meet the minimum requirements, I think you're good.

orientation is just meeting everyone, they give you a break down of the schedules, you have presentations from a variety of departments including IT, financial aid, etc. its alot of info so bring patience with you :) we all had to attend the orientation and theres a folder with much information :)

Now that sounds like orientation. When someone posted they took TEAS and writing test, that threw me for a loop.

Wow that would be terrible for me with only a few days left until the deadline. I sent them an email asking about my application status on Friday. I would hate to have to ask all my professors for another letter of recommendation in just a couple of days.

i agree that would suck...but you really have to be on top of them...if I wasn't I would have never known they lost some of my app materials...I sent numerous emails as well which were never answered for 2weeks so I had to keep calling....

Hello All,

CITY OF NEWARK. Yes, the City Newark has all the problems associated with most U.S. urban centers, however it has lots to offer as a major center of higher education as wells as history, culture, entertainment and more. Plus, you'll interact with folks from all types of ethnic and cultural backgrounds--a great preparation for nursing practice in today's increasingly diverse healthcare environment.

NEWARK CAMPUS. The Stanley Bergen Building (SSB), home of the School of Nursing on the Newark campus, formerly was a hospital (Martland Medical Center) and was built in 1958. In addition to the School of Nursing, this 15-story building also houses the School of Health Related Professions, and various administrative and clinical offices.

Inside the building, the School of Nursing offers a fully-equipped computer lab, and "smart classrooms" with teleconferencing, microphones, plasma screens and audience response technology. Our health assessment and simulation lab include very advanced learning tools including a brand-new IStan simulated patient, one of the world's top computer-assisted manikins. The Newark campus also has a great library, a new onsite fitness center and more.

I got accepted for the Spring 2011 semester back in August. I just received a letter today regarding the schedule for orientation on Dec 1 & 2.

We will be taking the TEAS on Day 1 (8:15-2:15pm)....I'm a bit worried about this exam....what happens if you don't pass? Do they take away your acceptance?

Day 2 (8:00-5pm) meet with a number of people...financial aid, student wellness, etc.

Can anyone give any suggestions for passing the TEAS?

Thanks! :nurse:
