After following the Fall '09 thread with great interest, I thought it might be time to start a new thread for the Spring '10 applicants since we're inching closer to the Sep 1 deadline. I have a technical question for those who have applied before. I submitted my CNL application online this morning and paid the $50 and now it seems like my application has slipped into a vortex that I don't have access to. When I log onto SURFS to check my status, the only option that it gives me is to submit a new application. Is there somewhere else on the website that I should be looking to confirm that my application has been submitted and is pending review or awaiting additional information (transcripts, recommendations, etc)? Perhaps there is a delay between when the application is submitted and when the status is visible?
Best of luck to all the other applicants...now the agonizing waiting game begins! Looking forward to giving each other support and encouragement on this thread.
I'm actually getting more nervous reading this thread!! I just joined all nurses today since one of my classmates told me about it. Anyway, I applied to the 2010 spring traditional BSN program. I turned in my application on Sept 1st with some of my documents trailing. UMB emails me a week later and told me that I needed to take the TOEFL (an English test for foreigner) since I didn't graduate high school on US soil. Since my English score on the NET was low, it was best that I took the test. I took the TOEFL on Sept 19th, which was the next available test date. As of yesterday, UMB hasn't received my score!! Tomorrow I'm gonna light a fire under TOEFL's @**!!:angryfire Do you think I still have a good chance in getting in? Even though my TOEFL score hasn't come in yet... As far as my GPA, resume, and all that other stuff goes, I'm packing a lot of heat.
Overall GPA: 3.61
Science GPA: 4.00
NET Score: math 100%, reading 64%, written expression, 55%
, science 73%
which makes an overall score of 73%
TOEFL: 107/120
Prior US Army Medic
Medical experience: 7 years as a medic or medial assistant
And to add on to my anxiety, I got my password wrong too many times! Do you guys know who I have to contact to get it unlocked?
I don't believe there have been many acceptance letters sent out since no one has posted they've gotten in... or they're just being very modest... so here is my opinion
if you get in AWESOME... and let the rest of us know....
because well... I just want to know!
Yes the wait is killin' me too and I think I can play Jack Johnson so many times to not worry about it anymore :loveya:
and forget all this rain we're having! ugh... rain.... why doesn't it snow so snowboarding can occur :redbeathe
I so feel for those of you waiting to hear about your acceptance. As far as I know, no acceptance letters have gone out. The goal is for all letters, one way or the other, to be sent by Nov. 1. If it makes you feel better, please know that your application folder is thoroughly reviewed by a panel of nurse educators and professional admissions staff - they won't miss a thing - and that is a large part of what takes so long. GPA is not the only thing that indicates a successful candidate - these people live in the real world. Hang in there!
If you requested the Shady Grove campus and would like to visit, and maybe bring your family, please consider dropping by our Open House Sat., Oct. 24 9 am to noon. There will be faculty, admissions people, staff, and current and former students to talk to about what nursing student life is really like. We always invite newly admitted students as soon as we know about them, so you might even meet some people in your class. Hope to see you there and best of luck!!
Thank you, Grey Lady. I am really hoping to hear prior to Nov. 1st since I have to give a deposit to another program by 10/30! UM is my first choice, so I am holding out as long as possible. Would it help at all for me to contact someone to find out if a decision on my application could be made prior to that date? Of course, I don't want to irritate anyone!! :)
Thanks!

Your transcripts will definitely get into your file - they will be looking for them. I would contact the Office of Admissions directly to make sure your updated resume is included in your application folder. Ask them what the best way is to send it in.
