After following the Fall '09 thread with great interest, I thought it might be time to start a new thread for the Spring '10 applicants since we're inching closer to the Sep 1 deadline. I have a technical question for those who have applied before. I submitted my CNL application online this morning and paid the $50 and now it seems like my application has slipped into a vortex that I don't have access to. When I log onto SURFS to check my status, the only option that it gives me is to submit a new application. Is there somewhere else on the website that I should be looking to confirm that my application has been submitted and is pending review or awaiting additional information (transcripts, recommendations, etc)? Perhaps there is a delay between when the application is submitted and when the status is visible?
Best of luck to all the other applicants...now the agonizing waiting game begins! Looking forward to giving each other support and encouragement on this thread.
Yikes! I hope they let everybody know on the same day. It's the least they can do for making us wait forever! I am sure that people are pushing off other schools to wait for UMD's answer. I am at the point now where I just really need to know either way, so that I can make other plans. The wait is beyond stressful.
To change the topic:
In a perfect world; lets say you DO get in....
are you going to get an apartment in Baltimore? and if so, does anyone know how long the waitlist is for the semi-university owned apartments OR are you going to light-rail it in everyday for school?
Or are you a lucky duck and live close to shady-grove and get to brave the minor traffic to and from school.
I am trying to figure out if I'm going to light-rail it in to school everyday OR dish out the $1000 a month to live in Baltimore....
That is... if I get in
Call me superstitious, but, this week, I'm only drinking my morning coffee out of the UMB SON mug that I picked up at one of my campus visits!
HurricaneBells---if I'm accepted, I'll be commuting to UMB from Bethesda (a DC suburb) each day. Not sure if I'll drive the whole way in to Baltimore or if I'll stop in Columbia to catch the train sometimes. Another option I'll look into is catching the train at Union Station in DC, though that might be more trouble than it's worth. My plan is to hit the road very early each morning to avoid traffic and to find parking.
hurricane bells- ill be commuting to shady grove from the frederick area.
ill probably have to get up early to get down there in time with all the traffic on 270 but hey you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
as for the extension on the wait...whats 3 more days after 2 months really? ( i know, i know, a lot...but thats how i am reasoning it in my head)
Good luck everyone!
Does anyone think that there will be a waitlist? I am sure the people that applied to multiple schools have already had to make decisions. I personally have one school that is way past due. UMD is my first choice, but do you think that there are people in the same situation who have already choosen other schools because of the wait? Especially those applying to the CNL program. I know Towson has already sent out their letters. What do you think will happen to the spots that will be left open because people have choosen other schools.
P.S. Yeah, i know it's just three more days, but good gracious it's killing me!!!!:angryfire
wishingonastar-
I'm not sure if there is a wait list. But, for instance, I have already put in a deposit to another school that I got into just incase I do not get in to UMB. AND....didn't you say that you spoke to admissions and we will not hear until the MIDDLE of next week....I'm guessing that means more like the 11th? So that is 7 days:/
Try to stay calm, I'm sure everything will work out!
Yes, I spoke to him yesterday and he just said the middle of next week. He was really nice and apologetic about it taking so long. He didn't get a specific day though. I spoke to him after the rude lady in admissions told me I would know by THANKSGIVING! I couldn't take the answer and I asked to speak to someone else. I wouldn't be suprised if the "middle of next week" turns into Friday the 13th. You are right, it's just a few more days, but that means a few more days of tossing and turning about this!! I guess I should start filling out the paperwork for my back up school just in case!!

i'm dying over here too... i wish that earlier statement was true but it won't be... i just hope everything gets posted on the 9th and it's not done in a step-ladder arrangement where they do like 50 a day or they post everyone who got in and don't update those who didn't get in or they don't post waitlisted... they post denied or so many other scenarios could happen... I think they know on the 9th that the lines are going to ring off the hooks or that they'll have a busy day/week/month
