UMass Worcester- Graduate Entry

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Has anyone else applied to the UMass GEP program? Sounds like they are scheduling interviews next month.

Has anyone heard how long we have to turn in our deposits before the 2nd wave of applicants are notified off the waitlist? A student I talked to last year said the turn around time was really really short.

Accepted students have 15 days to respond, according to an email I received from the admissions coordinator.

I haven't received any sort of info packet or letter yet. Anyone else?

Nope-- I keep looking in the mail, but nothing yet!

Congrats tkdemm04! I applied to UMass and Northeastern as well. I had also applied to MCPHS Accelerated BSN as a backup plan. Got into all three, but Im definitely going to UMass. Like you said, I was so impressed with their electives/subspecialties. They seem incredibly supportive of your goals, no matter what direction you want to go in. Not to mention how much more affordable it is.... woahh. haha

Totally agree kroma8! We should start a Facebook page or something for people starting in the fall. I'm really excited and am looking forward to orientation in June :)

Thanks Kroma8! HCE2014, I believe the email said that we had 15 days from the date listed on the physical acceptance letter, although I too haven't yet received anything...I'll probably call to check in if nothing shows up soon!

My campus visit got pushed to next Tuesday due to the snowstorm that never actually happened this past Monday:( I can't wait to see everything as I really think it will help to make this decision a little clearer.

I asked yesterday when I called to clarify a pre-req and they said it would be going out shortly. She did tell me that our orientation date is June 16th though, which is helpful to know now cause I'm from out of state.

HCE2014, that is helpful, thanks for sharing! Do you mind if I ask where you are from? I'm also looking into the housing/apt situation near the school although I would just be moving from Somerville (north of Boston). Did you talk to anyone about this during your visit?

We're moving from Oregon. Thats funny, my fiance just got a job at the City of Somerville actually so we're not really sure where to move. I talked to people at my visit a little bit but we didn't get into too many details. I think it would be crazy to commute everyday from the city during the first year, but I hear your second and third year its more doable. I would really like to see a sample schedule to know what days we have classes and clinicals before I consider where to move. We are also thinking about maybe doing split housing so we have an apartment in Somerville then I get a roommate in Worcester and come home to Boston for the weekends. Not sure. Any chance you'll commute?

I received my admissions packet. Anyone choosing to go somewhere else?

I received my admissions packet too-- It seems more real now! I lived in Cambridge the past two years, and when my fiance moved out to Worcester to go to UMass Medical School this past July, we came out here. So luckily I don't have to worry about moving, but if anyone wants any advice please let me know! HCE2014, if you are also looking for a few places between Boston and Worcester, I would look into Framingham or Natick -- which are affordable and about 30min from both Boston and Worcester. I would also love to see an academic calendar --- especially since we need to set a wedding date... haha..
