I've been researching the FNP program at UMass Boston and considering applying there for the Fall 2014 semester.
It seems like the best financial decision, but I have not heard much either way regarding the program. Is it competitive to get into? Is there something I'm missing. I've looked at other schools and some are nearly double the price...
Hoping for some feedback for others that have attended or have thoughts...
Thanks
Thanks this is very helpful! I wish information on all of the programs was easier to come by.
I think I am going to be in a similar position to you and end up putting down deposits until I hear from Simmons and MGH. I wish the due dates for apps were all at the same time so this wouldn't be as much of an issue. I hate wasting money!
I wish I didn't read this post until then. I have been so focused on wrapping up my BSN program that I forgot all about my applications and now I've been stalking my email. Bummer they pushed it back but thanks for the update.
Question: have you received your acceptance from Harvard yet? Is that program only full time? How much does it cost? I teetered on applying for it...
I didn't get into the Harvard part of the program, I found out about that in early March. I'm still able to do the FNP program with Simmons though as I was accepted there, and the woman I spoke to said that it didn't matter if I was accepted to Harvard, I could still attend Simmons with that acceptance (instead of having to re-apply with the June deadline)
So, I didn't get into BC. The only thing I can think is that it's because my academic recommendation didn't arrive on time and so they let my employer fax a letter on the fly after the due date and without letterhead. I'm annoyed because I have a 3.95 GPA and a 3.75 in my ADN but oh well.
Simmons and UMB were my top choices so let's see how that pans out. I've already gotten into UMB.

When I spoke to someone last week, she said that they'd be emailing decisions by the end of the month, so who knows what happened. I may call again tomorrow to check. I haven't gotten totals, but I added them up based on the number of credits, the published fees etc and this is what I found for Simmons and BC, I think it should be about right.
Simmons
48 credits x $1246 = $59,808
5 sem x $100 activity fee = $500
Insurance $4190/yr
TOTAL = $68,688 (based on including 2 years of health insurance)
BC
45 credits x $1154 = $51,930
5 sem x $45 activity fee = $225
Insurance $2432/yr
TOTAL = $57,019
