  1. I'm not a Boston native, I'm originally from Maine. My background is in ortho(inpatient), but I'm looking around for a variety of different jobs. I'd like to find an office job but not sure how likely that is with per diem. I'm just keeping an eye out for anything that may be interesting. I'll definitely check out that website, thank you!
  2. I graduated from BC in 2010 with my BSN. I was planning on going back for my MSN and was accepted, but they don't have enough clinical spots so it would take 3 years for me to graduate (I'm going full-time). In the end I'm really happy with my decision to attend Simmons, they have up to 150 more clinical hours than BC and have been a lot more helpful in answering my questions than BC has. I don't have a job in Boston yet since I'm moving back to the city from Florida (currently working on Martha's Vineyard for the summer), but I'm applying to per diem jobs. I figure that way I can work as much or as little as I'm able to, depending on clinicals etc.
  3. I'm starting full-time in the fall as well, glad I found someone else doing the on-campus program! Are you currently working as an RN?
  4. I got in, but due to lack of clinical space, I can't start clinicals until Fall 2016 instead of 2015, making my graduation date May 2017, a year later than I was anticipating. When I called to inquire further, the lady said that there was a waitlist to move up the clinical year, but that I have to enroll first and then there was no guarantee. I really had my heart set on BC, but I also don't want to take 3 years to graduate when I had planned on only 2. I'm not quite sure what my plan is now, whether I'll put a deposit down at BC and hope I get off the wait list by the end of the summer, or whether I'll just decide to go to Simmons.
  5. Sorry to hear about BC, I'm sure it wasn't anything to do with the strength of your application, I know they had a huge applicant pool for the FNP program. When did you hear? Did the status of your application ever update on the portal? I haven't heard anything yet, so just curious. Good luck with wherever you choose to attend!
  6. I didn't get into the Harvard part of the program, I found out about that in early March. I'm still able to do the FNP program with Simmons though as I was accepted there, and the woman I spoke to said that it didn't matter if I was accepted to Harvard, I could still attend Simmons with that acceptance (instead of having to re-apply with the June deadline)
  7. I called this morning to check on BC and she said that due to the "depth of the appplicant pool" it's taking longer than they expected and they should notify everyone by Wednesday of next week.
  8. When I spoke to someone last week, she said that they'd be emailing decisions by the end of the month, so who knows what happened. I may call again tomorrow to check. I haven't gotten totals, but I added them up based on the number of credits, the published fees etc and this is what I found for Simmons and BC, I think it should be about right. Simmons 48 credits x $1246 = $59,808 5 sem x $100 activity fee = $500 Insurance $4190/yr TOTAL = $68,688 (based on including 2 years of health insurance) BC 45 credits x $1154 = $51,930 5 sem x $45 activity fee = $225 Insurance $2432/yr TOTAL = $57,019
  9. Haven't heard anything from BC yet...
  10. I ended up getting into Umass Boston despite the issue with my recommendation (see above), I had pretty much given up because they weren't very responsive to my questions about that, but I checked my portal last week and found out. I still haven't gotten the actual letter in the mail. I'm sure it probably will be more, the Simmons deposit was $750! I'm pretty sure my top choice is BC, as that's where I did my undergrad, but I have a deposit down at Simmons to hold a spot there at least until I find out. I had originally applied to their dual program with Harvard school of public health, so I was able to hear about Simmons in March instead of waiting until after the June 1 deadline.
  11. I also applied to the BC FNP program, I called last week to check on the status of application decisions and they said that they'll be emailing them before the end of this month, so hopefully that's true and we'll be hearing tomorrow. That may make your deposit decision a little bit easier. Good luck!
  12. Tasha, I just realized that you may have been confused about me attending Simmons online vs on campus because of the application due date not being until June 1 for the on-campus program starting Fall 2014. I originally applied for the dual program with the Harvard School of Public Health, so the Simmons portion of that application was due February 15, and I hear back in March. I didn't get into the Harvard portion, but I got the acceptance from Simmons, and that's why I know even though applications aren't due for awhile.
  13. I also applied to the Fall 2014 FNP Program and am having problems with communication as well. When I check online it says that I'm missing a recommendation letter from one person, though she says she sent it in (and I have no reason not to believe her). It does say that they have received 3 recommendations, though one says it's from "Bizbub" and I have no idea what that could mean. I received an email, last week I think, stating it's in review with the committee and they were just waiting on that recommendation. I've emailed a few times (both the general graduate admissions email and the specific person responsible for my application), and also called the person responsible for my application (last name begins with M), and haven't received any contact back. So, I don't know if the mystery recommendation is from the person that it shows up missing from, or what happened. I'm not too impressed with their lack of communication.
  14. If I don't get into BC, I'll be attending Simmons on campus.
