Application due date is February 1. Anyone else working on this?
I just attended the info session on Tuesday the 11th (right before the big snow storm!), which was somewhat helpful, though the speaker seemed to be trying to discourage some people from applying. I think she just wanted to emphasize that they don't even look at applications if you haven't got all your prereqs completed, and that you'll be so busy you can't even think about having a job at the same time... She put a big emphasis on seeking 'diversity' in their student cohort, and I think it made a bunch of people wonder just what she meant by that.
One thing I've been wondering about is including a resume or CV with the application. They don't list one as needed or even optional, so I was wondering if including one could in any way hurt or help my application.
I hope someone else out there is going through the same thing and would be willing to post about their experiences.
The interview wasn't bad. It seemed the interviewers' goal during the interview was to assess which applicants are ready to take on the challenges of their program. Specifically, I was asked about what I had in terms of social support, financial preparedness, and ability to handle the workload. I was also asked the "what is a professional nurse?" question, to determine why I wanted to go into nursing.
It looked like they scheduled interviews for every 15 minutes, which wasn't actually enough time per interviewee. I was scheduled for late in the afternoon, so I had to wait because they were backed up. And by the end of my interview, the interviewers were rushing to get through, so we didn't have as much time to discuss my questions as I would have liked.
All in all, though, I think my interview went well, so I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll be offered a spot in the program. :)

Hey... reading these posts and I got an interview as well! Also accepted to Brockton Hospital and Simmons 18month program...; so if I'm accepted to UMass too I got some bid decisions to make!
