UMass Boston Accelerated BSN Summer 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Everyone!

Was wondering if anyone applied for the ABSN spring 2017 cohort at UMass Boston. It would be great to hear from other people about your pre requisites and experience. Hope to hear from you!

I'm staying positive but I have a feeling I've been waitlisted primarily due to the fact that I don't have the "to-do list" tab or deposit fee on my page that I've read about on other past threads. I'd assume to receive letters around 18-19 of Jan (based on past threads). I could be wrong though- I'm going to be gone the end of January for three weeks doing trauma training so I've already told my husband he's gotta be on the mail box haha .. fingers crossed for good news!!

Nothing yet on my end....

Stay positive!! It's still early :)

I'm pretty sure no scholarships are awarded upon admittance. They mentioned at the info session that you can apply in the Fall for scholarships. You do get FAFSA award information, but mine only shows 2016-2017 which ends about a month after the program starts. I think UMB is just now processing FAFSA awards for 2017-2018. Good luck!

Is there anyone who is currently in the program or recently graduated who could let us know how the program is? Is it a mixture of in-person seminars and online classes, or just in-person?

I'm trying to figure out if it would be feasible to commute from the Cape. Thoughts? :-)

I'm not currently in the program but I was recently accepted! I've gathered a lot of info from UMB and friends with knowledge about the program. The majority of the classes are in-person and only a few are online over the course of the 15 months. The first summer you have 1 clinical that is 6 hrs/week, but they bump it up to 18-24 hrs/week after that. Its really emphasized that this is a full-time program, so it would probably be easier living closer, but maybe commuting could work if you spent long days on campus? Hope that helps!

Where on the cape are you coming from?

I would be coming from Harwich...kind of a drive, but I figured if my clinical site was in between it wouldn't be too bad!

Has anyone put the deposit down to secure their spot? I'm waiting a bit longer to see if I hear back from other programs, but I'll probably put it down soon!

When is the deposit due for everyone that was accepted? I'm still waiting to receive a decision from UMB - says I should know within 14 days.. patiently waiting.

The deposit is due on January 23rd

Is anyone interested in starting an accepted students group on FB? I can do it but I don't have any friends to add haha.
