UMass Boston - ABSN Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I did not see a thread for this cohort, so everyone interested in this absn program please comment!

I want to apply for the Spring 2021 cycle. Does anyone know what the total tuition including housing, books etc would look like? Can anyone who did attend this program share what their total costs came down to? Would be super beneficial!

@JDanielle3687 https://www.facebook.com/groups/mghabsnspring2021/?ref=share Here is a MGH facebook page for the group starting in January if you decide to accept your admission! Good luck!

I emailed this morning and was told that my application was very strong but they had a lot of applicants and simply not enough seats.  I was told that there isn't much I can do to "improve" my application but they did mention I could resubmit an essay and recommendation letters.  Not the news I wanted this morning but I'm glad they make it easy to reapply!

Just got the same reply!

It just even makes me more anxious but I have no clue that I would even get it in if I apply again. I thought about sending another recommendation letter but I’m not even sure if there’s any point. They said they won’t reviewing any of the reactivated applications till the February deadline and it just sucks haven’t to wait that long again.

anyone know of any rolling admissions or ABSN programs that are still accepting applications?

This is the second time I've gotten that. I emailed to ask what I can do to make it stronger because obviously it's not strong enough. I get it though I cried quite a bit this morning. But the world needs caring nurses and the NP field is expanding and needs more great people! Take the time to be sad and then get back to it if it's meant to work out it will♥️

Going to the accepted students night via zoom tonight to decide ?

thank you ❤️

Checked the portal this morning (thank you for the heads up) and was not accepted. Congrats to those who made it into the program! And for those of us who did not, don't give up! Hard work and determination always pay off in the end.

It's really interesting hearing about all of the strong candidates who were told to apply to a later term. I'm wondering if a lot of students deferred their acceptances to this semester because of COVID and feeling unsettled about clinicals happening during the height of the pandemic? Not sure if it works like that but I'd be curious if it does.

Not sure if anyone here also applied to the nursing program at BHCC?

@Future.Derm.NP don’t give up! I know it can feel so discouraging but one day you’ll look back and be so grateful you kept fighting for it ❤️ MGH is still accepting applications until Saturday!

For anyone who didn't get into the program, please remember that they're expanding the program soon. In fall (possibly Summer?) of 2021, they'll be admitting 24 more students (72 total compared to 48 currently). So if you were encouraged to apply again, waiting a bit longer may work out. In the information session I attended, they said that they receive many qualified applications from students that they unfortunately don't have room for. As the program expands, this will be less of an issue.

Did anyone apply as a returning Umass Student/applied via email rather than through the portal and received a decision yet?

I applied through the common app. I have not received any follow-up email or any login for the portal. Is anyone on the same boat? and would anyone know how I can get an update on my application?

I applied as a returning UMB student, had to send all my application materials by email. Was told I would get my response via email by early November but haven't gotten anything yet :/

The anticipation is killing me.

I applied as a transfer student. I didn’t apply through the portal, but once I applied they gave me a student ID and access to the portal. I would maybe see if you can create an account. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. That was just my experience as someone new to UMass.

I just check my portal and I was rejected. Thought I had a strong application ?. On to the next!

They said they couldn’t accept me into the coming semester and based on the strength of my application, they recommend that I reactivate my application for the other term. Pretty devastated.

May I ask for both your GPAs? I want to apply for next year but I’m afraid my GPA would hold me back and make my application not “strong.”
