UMass Boston - ABSN Spring 2021

Published

I did not see a thread for this cohort, so everyone interested in this absn program please comment!

I want to apply for the Spring 2021 cycle. Does anyone know what the total tuition including housing, books etc would look like? Can anyone who did attend this program share what their total costs came down to? Would be super beneficial!

@for the people that got into mgh program is it expensive ? was it easier to get into the program rather then UMass.

It’s SO expensive. In the end I believe it ends up being close to $80k. They do pretty much guarantee you a job at MGH after which is really great and I’ve heard it’s a great program overall, just really expensive. I got accepted with a 3.4 undergrad and a 3.7 pre-req. I do believe it is much easier to get into than Umass! They accept about 100 students where Umass only accepted around 48 for this cohort.

80k in student loans hurts are you planning on going ?

I will be going, yes. I luckily have most of my undergrad debt paid off and have saved up a lot where I won’t have to take out the full $80k in loans.

I was relieved to find out I was accepted to UMass because of the affordability, but has anyone heard where people who graduate from this program land jobs after? I wish there was more transparency with that.

I was concerned with that too. I asked in the information session and she said that a lot of students land jobs through connections they make during their clinical rotations. The clinical rotations are with hospitals they partner with. Among them were Brigham and MGH and I think Beth Israel too. There are some clinical locations in suburbs too though, like South Shore Hospital/Clinic.

Hi guys. Congratulations to the ones who have been accepted and good luck with the students still trying! Do you know when should we be expecting the welcome packet through the mail?

My acceptance letter said that we would get it after we accept our admissions offer. Not sure about exact date.

@Fnp1977 okay thanks! I heard in the Fall but I was curious. Do you know if the tuition needs to be paid prior to the program?

There is a deposit that needs to be paid in order to secure your spot (to my knowledge, I haven’t accepted yet). But I would assume tuition has to be paid prior to actual matriculation. I would contact financial aid.

The deposit is $200, btw. And one of my letters stated that you have to let them know your enrollment plans by Dec 1

Congrats to the ones accepted! I am in the Fall 2020 cohort! Let me know if you have questions!
