I've read tons and tons of posts on here and looked everywhere online but I'm at a loss on what to do!
I'm a second year Adult nursing student (3 year BSC) and when I graduate I want to be able to move over to the US as soon as possible! (I'd rather keep my motivations private, and not let that side track the conversation)
The only issue is - hours.
Since I'm doing only adult nursing, none of my lectures or placements have anything to do with maternity, pediatrics or mental health. So I'm wondering what to do!
(If you're wondering why I'm asking so early because I haven't even finished my degree - I want to know all my options and to see if I can do anything)
What routes can I take? Would I be able to take classes in the US when I'm finished to make up the hours? Can I just - never go to the USA to work as a nurse? (It seems very hopeless at the moment)
Any advice is much needed, thank you!
Send me your question and I will got through my data I put together a huge PDF trying to understand all the boards and I will see If I can simplify your answer

Why are you using an agency? You are an important commodity they need Nurses write a strong cover letter and good CV and start applying to the HR of the institutions or put yourself on Zephyr and you can be recruited directly. You can get sign on bonuses etc

thank you for your response,
I've not yet started applying, I'm just unsure where to even start. Is the minimum experience one year? I will be working as a NICU nurse.

It's ideal to have a min of 1 year working experience and for those from the UK if there any deficienies to address them. I tried to message you but can't I can send you some info

thank you
Hi! I know this is an older thread but wondering if anyone has any updates?
I live in Virginia and have a Scottish degree in adult nursing. Just wondering how likely I would be to not have any extra hours to get. I did have a placement with a health visitor so I'm hoping that would count for OB and paeds hours!
thanks
Hi all,
I'm also wondering the same as I'm in a similar position.
Im currently a 2nd year student studying at University of Dundee in Bsc Adult nursing. I have 6 years experience working within theatre and as an Advanced Perioperative Assistant (scrub).
I'm looking to move to USA (Florida if possible) once qualified to work as a registered nurse within the theatre setting. Just wanting to know what is the process and what is the minimum level of experience post grad needed? Also can my partner go across from my visa?
Thanks,
Lee

It's really important that you look on the Florida website and email their board of nursing to get full clarity as things get a bit murky on threads. I emailed the Virginia board of nursing and they quite happily replied and sent links to the national guidance and laws surrounding nursing and visas etc. I would strongly reccomend you go there as your first point of contact.
Minimum level of post grad experience seems to be around 1-2 years of experience.
While you're still in university, it's a good idea to get spokes in areas of different fields of nursing, as all US states require this, but all to differing levels (again, contact the Florida board of nursing for more clarity! They may not want that many hours)
for visas - I have no clue. It seems so hard to be accepted as a foreign nurse that I have not really focused on looking at visas at all but apparently you can apply for a work visa.
