I've read tons and tons of posts on here and looked everywhere online but I'm at a loss on what to do!
I'm a second year Adult nursing student (3 year BSC) and when I graduate I want to be able to move over to the US as soon as possible! (I'd rather keep my motivations private, and not let that side track the conversation)
The only issue is - hours.
Since I'm doing only adult nursing, none of my lectures or placements have anything to do with maternity, pediatrics or mental health. So I'm wondering what to do!
(If you're wondering why I'm asking so early because I haven't even finished my degree - I want to know all my options and to see if I can do anything)
What routes can I take? Would I be able to take classes in the US when I'm finished to make up the hours? Can I just - never go to the USA to work as a nurse? (It seems very hopeless at the moment)
Any advice is much needed, thank you!

I'm going to reach out to as many people and departments as possible.
My university allow us to do spokes only on adult wards, so I'm not able to go onto childrens areas/mental health :( I've read that I could perhaps get the hours via A&E and renal but I'm not sure if that's correct?

Would these fill the hours?
To be transparent I am feeling quite down about this situation. Feels like I'm stuck and no matter what I do I'll never end up in the US after graduating :/
You'll have to be strategic and get all the evidence you can. So Yes.
On A&E, you would see a range from maternity- Geriatric patients. Same with the GP. The most important things would be doing reflections for those days when you look after the speciality of pt you need and getting them signed off. So you've evidence of you were asked to provide hours for those areas

The board also requires theory hours and I'm not sure how we cover those. We have had a maternity e learning course to complete but most of our course is adult - I think some mental health has been included but no child - so I'm not sure how to get that aspect done
So mostly in year 2 for my uni, we did a module on ACE which is relating to children. Then I did an essay surrounding ACE and the transition into adulthood. This accounted for my theory hours. I don't know about your uni, but most uni you've independent study hours. You just have to finesse it to make it work for you.
what I also did was request for my modules syllabus because although it's adult nursing, you cover a few bits of the other areas as well.

We have a lot of independent study hours - you think I could use them?
also, with an A&E placement, surely we wouldn't encounter many children as children have their own department in A&E?
Did you go straight from graduation to the US?
The beauty of being a student is you can ask to be moved to a different area for the experience. I would just ask. While I did my A&E placement, we would mostly triage them and sometime stay with us before they're moved to a Peads ward. All those hours count.
I'm still in the UK just waiting for my decision from Cgfns.
Hi Everyone,
I would just like to encourage every UK RN trying to do the move to being a US RN that it can be DONE.
I have just received my CES Report exactly two month after I paid for the report to be done. Although, I paid for the expeditED review.
The major boost I had was my A & E placement I think. I was able to use those hours for the areas we usually are deficient in.

This is fantastic! Did you have to stay in the UK for two years like everywhere says you have to? I really don't want to work in the UK for two years - how was the process like?
