UK nurses going to the US

Published

I am due to have a job interview for a hospital in the US that my agency sourced for me.Assuming I get the job then my agency will apply for a EB3 visa and Green Card for me and I wondered what other people's experiences are in the same situation. Whether you've been through it or are going through it now.I would love to hear tips, helpful hints and also everything that went wrong. It would help to know what to watch for.

Thanks everyone.

There are a few agencies that people have used successfully in the last few years to go to the US. Assignment America, O’Grady Peyton , Avant and Medpro are some examples. I’m sure there are many more.

Luckily for you, you are still a student. So try and gain work experience in OBGyn, Peads, mental health and Adult in order to meet the requirement to sit NCLEX.

I heard Florida and Oregon are flexible

All the best

Hi NurseDeeva,

I have psych, adult surg and med, geriatric and GP placements. Hopefully my ED placement will cover the rest of the requirement. May I know which nursing agency did you use?

Thank you very much.

Hi Anna , have a look at other people on allnurses who wanted to apply to California and find out how difficult it is to apply without a SSN- social security number. California is one of the most difficult places to get a nursing license for internationally educated nurses. Also if you got your nursing diploma in 2011 then I hope you had placements in psychiatric, pediatric and maternity. Lacking this experience on their transcripts makes it more difficult to get authorization to test for the NCLEX. Have a plan b in case the California thing takes to long. Maybe another state until you get a SSN .Also be prepared to follow up regularly once you start the process.I hope this information helps you.Good luck.

Hi ICunrsey. Thanks for your input. What it is I am also a graduated Bachelor Of Science in Nursing In the Philippines and also I studied Bachelor of nursing degree here in the U.K. in 2011. But I don’t know where to start to make my enquiry.

Thanks

You can’t apply to California without a US SSN and you can’t get that until in the US with valid work or immigrant visa.

I see thank you.
