UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE

Published

Hi People

I am a UK born citizen trained in Australia hence I am going via the overseas trained route. I passed my CBT test and am in the full application and assessment stage.

I am interested in sharing information with people who are also in this stage of the application.

I commenced my application in 2013 under the old process which was rejected due to lack of clinical hours. I received a letter from NMC advising me of the new process. Like many people on this forum, this entire process has been long, drawnout, frustrating and tedious for me!!!!!!!

Hi everyone! Im new here and currently preparing my documents for the assessment stage. Passed my cbt exam last September.

I have a concern though because my second employer doesn't have any dry seal or stamp so I'll be requesting for a letter from them to indicate that they don't have any. Is there a format that they need to follow for the letter? Any help would be appreciated. thank you! :)

As long as it's a professional looking letter, it shouldn't matter. They never said anything about mine.

Hi ashley1286, BSN, thanks for the info! So can my employer include like 2 sentences in the letter only? Was yours already accepted? I'm planning to send all my documents asap.

Ashley 1286,

In the grand scheme of things it really hasn't been too long. A couple weeks maybe. I'm just anxious to get the visa and everything squared away! I just wanted to know if anyone else has had any difficulties with this stage of the process :) I haven't taken the OSCE yet. I'm planning on doing that in January after I quit my job and move. I'm just waiting for them to post January test dates. And as far as turning in your application now, it couldn't hurt. I just scanned and emailed all my docs to them and then were fine with that.

Faith 123,

As long as it's on letter headed paper and signed, you should be fine. I'm pretty sure mine was only a sentence or two long.

I didn't even think of that! I'll do that. It'll at least give me a 3 week head start before I take my OSCE

Nursemickey-

Ask CTN again about the visa stuff. I was under the impression that you cannot apply for your visa until CTN has applied for the sponsorship which they can only do between the 1st and 5th of every month. I also rememeber that you must be starting your job within 30 days of getting the visa, but I could be wrong on that. So if you aren't planning on working until January then your visa needs to be done in December. CTN told me it takes about 3 weeks total from when they apply for the sponsorship until your get your visa.

You can definitely drop off your application at CTN in person. That's what I'm doing when I go over to take the OSCE soon. Just talk to your recruiter and set up a time. They said they will go over some placements that they have open and get a feel for what kind of job you are looking for. They haven't given me the impression that it will take too long to find a placement either. If you are felxible with a start date than you should have no problem. I'm not planning on starting until January so hopefully I'll have the OSCE passed and all my paperwork in to CTN by the end of the month. Also, I agree about the NILE study documents. They are very poorly written and it's hard website to figure out. I keep going over care plans cause lord knows I haven't actually written one since nursing school.

It's a shame mine has a grammatical error! Ugh I don't have the guts to tell the mean supervisor "Madam, your grammar here is wrong." No matter how polite you say it, they will insinuate it as disrespect (happened to my colleague). It's so difficult here in the Philippines ugh,.

Wow, congratulations! I am happy for you! I would like to ask about your timeline? Like, how long did it take you to get through it all?

My parents really can't wait to see me go.

Here's mine. I hope you can share yours, so I can have an idea on how long the process will take.

August 28 - employer's interview

August 29 - UK VI IELTS exam

October 14 - will be taking my CBT and I am so nervous right now

Thank you so much.

Hi ashley!

How long did you wait before getting a decision? Thanks.

I decided to drop off in person, too. Just so I can meet my recruiter and be 100% sure they have everything they need. What date are you taking your OSCE?

Hi K Kaur -

I'm also booked for 17 Nov. - hoping it will be a glorious day for all :)

Are you in UK at the moment?

I'm presently in London, trying to find a nursing school in the area that might help me to prepare. Otherwise I'm just reviewing the NILE websites and a couple of textbooks I have.

Let me know if you want to prepare together.
