Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Okay so i am applying to the BSN program at UIC 2015. I am so worried because i have no idea what to expect. It is one of the top nursing schools in the country. I am literally freaking out because i am competing for one of the 90 spots. My Cum GPA is 3.89 and science GPA is 4.0 and I graduated out of high school a year early (at the age 16). i am currently 18 years old. I finished most of my pre-reqs at a community college because its cheaper, I also finished my essay questions but i am worried that its not good enough. I volunteer at my local hospital for over a few months and i know that nursing is what I want to do.

Can someone please tell me if I have a good chance of getting in? Getting into UIC is my dream goal. Is my GPA good? Is there anything that i can do to improve my chances of getting in?

I am applying sometime next week.

General admission decision? Never heard of that. Anyone who gets accepted will know by mid April according to UIC nursing website. I did not see anything about General admission. Also I think your application under decision will say "application reviewed; awaiting final decision" or "referred to college for review" don't worry we are all in the same position. Care to share any of your stats? Recommenders, science GPA, work experience..

So my file has been finally referred to the College of Nursing today. That's what I've been waiting for....At least I know I made it to board of admission :D it's up to them now. Webber_72 my GPA is 4.0 and I am a volunteer at Rush. My letters of recommendations and my essays are quite strong. I'm hoping for the best.

Sorry about the typos in my previous message

Hey guys, I have also applied for fall 2015 bsn program and I just received an email explaining that my application has qualified me to participate in an in person group interview and writing exercise.

Congrats! I also received that email. Not sure what date to go yet. Did you pick a date?

Ya I chose March 13 at 10 o'clock. My thinking is that amount of time will give me enough time to prepare, plus the interview would be fresh in their minds when going through final application. Idk, what do you think?

Congrats to you guys! Regardless of the date you guys choose it won't really matter because when you are being interviewed they'll most likely take notes and they'll know who meets the criteria to go further in this process.

Murse1293 I agree I might go that date also I don't feel as prepared yet. @ ale8620 did you pick a date yet?

I haven't received that email yet. My file has been referred to the College of Nursing yesterday, so I assume it will take some time to have it reviewed. I'm trying to be patient though because it won't happen overnight. Still hoping for the best:up:

Does anyone know what happens after the group interview and writing exercise? Another interview?

Nurserush15, there will be no other interview as far as I've heard. By mid April or so they will send out the admission letters

Thank you, ale8620! I thought they would have individual interviews as well. I received my interview e-mail at 5pm today. Check your e-mail!
