Okay so i am applying to the BSN program at UIC 2015. I am so worried because i have no idea what to expect. It is one of the top nursing schools in the country. I am literally freaking out because i am competing for one of the 90 spots. My Cum GPA is 3.89 and science GPA is 4.0 and I graduated out of high school a year early (at the age 16). i am currently 18 years old. I finished most of my pre-reqs at a community college because its cheaper, I also finished my essay questions but i am worried that its not good enough. I volunteer at my local hospital for over a few months and i know that nursing is what I want to do.
Can someone please tell me if I have a good chance of getting in? Getting into UIC is my dream goal. Is my GPA good? Is there anything that i can do to improve my chances of getting in?
I am applying sometime next week.
My only suggestion is to make the group private so that it doesn't publicly go onto others news feeds when we post or comment on it. People can still find it and request to join but I know I prefer groups to be private so I don't feel as silly posting in them and it going into my regular newsfeed that others can see(: I just joined it, thanks for making it!!
Thank you. I'm thinking I probably got denied too, because I have not received an email. And how long could it possibly take an email that was sent hours ago to reach one's inbox? My application status is the same... Arlene1, I hope you get in one of the other schools, or in all of them!
jkel0912,
I am so happy to hear that you got in!....yesterday I was almost crying , I was so sad that I did not get in UIC. But, life works in ways that sometimes we dont undestand, today I just got a mail (the admision letter was issue last week) from Resurrection University Accelerated BSN program. I am in the program and I am going to start in summer if I decide to go there. If everything go well I may graduate next year. I like that they have several hospitals and may get the chance to get a job with them, but the tuition is a litle high compared to UIC. I still want to hear from the City Colleges as the tuition will be a lot more cheap, it will take me a litle longer to get the BSN but I will save a lottt of money...over all I think studying for the TEAS V was good pratice for me , I got 83% and I know the NCLEX will be twice as hard! Things always happen for a reason! God bless you all
A little late but I was also accepted. Yay! 😆 proud of all you. As for the the people who did not get in, keep your heads up I'm sure it was a very hard process for the admissions committee to pick from such an extraordinary group of applicants. At my interview I was so proud of every interviwee's professionalism and well thought out answers. I'm sure we all took something from this experience and hopefully we can build from it. Good luck to everyone!
Hey guys! Congratulations to the ones who got in! And to the ones who didnt, don't lose hope! You can always share your passion about being a nurse to another school! All other schools are great as well! I currently got waitlisted for UIC. Did anyone else got waitlisted? I'm so furious about this. I don't know how it works and what the guarantee is if you get in.
Does anyone know how the first semester of nursing is going to be like? I heard it's crazy, random and chaotic, and you can't really make a schedule around it; everything has to revolve around school and you don't have time for work or anything else. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've heard that it is crazy! You'll be taking very hard classes including clinicals. You literally won't have a social life. You may work but thats upto the person. It depends if the person can handle a job while being in nursing school.
All right guys, I know it's hard to just wait and wait and then wait some more, but let me tell you something...When I got my admission letter from NIU, the letter was issued on April 8th and I got the letter on April 14th...so hang in there, we'll get that email...we better get that email!
Hey ale8620, what are you going to do about your niu acceptance? We have to let them know if we are attending by the 1st and I'm wondering if I should send them a letter or something?

Hi murse1293,
Sorry for taking me so long to reply. I haven't checked this page since I've got admitted to UIC. You know what I did? I actually replied to NIU that I accept my admission a day before the deadline. The reason why I did so is because it's been two weeks already and I haven't received the official admission package. So I wanted to play it safe. However, as soon I get the package from UIC, I'm going to call NIU and let them know about my choice. It won't harm anyone because I chose the very last day available for orientation, so they will have time to offer my seat to the next wait listed student. I thought of them as well I'm sure I'll bring some joy to one of those wait listed students. At least that's all I can do.
What about you? What did you do about your admission at NIU?
