Hi folks,
Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?
My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...
From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?
I am glad you were able to send your GREs. I also found the GRE requirement confusing (I have a BS degree but also assumed if your current GPA was high enough while attaining you BS that you did not have to submit scores). Congrats on Marquette rainkissedleaves. After reading last year's posts; it looks like the 2013 cohort found out at different times depending on their specialities (how nerve raking)-but good luck to everyone and I hope the next few weeks fly by until we hear about interviews. I saw from earlier posts that one of you will be moving from California-are you sure you want to deal with crazy Chicago weather j/k:)? It is spring tm, yet freezing here in Chicago lol.
I believe sitten and I (the only ones I know) that will be moving from CA! I'm looking forward to experiencing something new. I need a desperate change from SFs gloomy weather all the time. Chicago can be very hot and excruciating cold .... That is what I like. I cannot bear the same weather all year round.
Hehe, everyone always always me that question and I reply with: I am more worried about the crime rate than I am the weather.
But I know that I won't really be ready for Chicago weather until I am IN Chicago. Luckily, I am a fan of beanies, scarves, coats, boots, etc., which I don't really get to wear in California.
Yea the weather, especially this week is brutal. But as most Chicagoans say, "If you don't like the weather, wait fifteen minutes." lol I grew up in Little Italy here in the city. For those of you from out of town, it pretty much the same neighborhood as UIC (undergrad and grad) and right next to the Medical District. Great place to grow up in and live in. I actually work at UIC right now and am still there so if anyone has any questions about the neighborhood/transportation/living/social things, anything broad or specific please feel free to ask! Even though I am a little biased, because I think Chicago is the best :)

Haha there's nothing wrong with being bias. I wish I had a city that I felt so strongly towards. I'm looking forward to speaking to you more in regards to Chicago in the future

It already worked. Speaking into existence. I'm sure he will thank you for making his work easier. :)
