UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

CPA: I'll look into the FB group and see what it involves.

Phoenix: I got the same email. It stinks that the evaluations are coming out so late since Summer classes are already beginning/full if I need anything else..

The FB group would be great miss Priss. Let me know if you want me to do anything. I am part of a couple of groups, but I didn't set them up.

I received the same email. Now, has anyone talked to financial aid yet? I submitted my FAFSA back in january. I definitely don't expect any grants/scholarships, but I am hoping to get a loan.

Hello all. It looks like the UND research methods class has closed. I guess I'll be taking the University of Washington course. IThe UND course should be offered in the fall though, so if that's something you'd be interested in doing for the fall semester you may want to give it a look! I've also started my FAFSA. I don't know if I'll get any money though because I have about $50K in loans already from a prior degree and I'll bet they cap how much you can get...

Hey guys! I've been MIA. Let's see if I can catch up with all the entries.

Background info: This will also be a second career for me. I'm currently a lab rat working at Loyola. I will be commuting from the western suburbs..:-(

I received an email from Julie today regarding all my pre-reqs. All I need is A&P II. I just completed A&P I at Malcolm X and will be looking to complete A&P II at COD. When I was browsing through the COD classes I thought I saw a methods class but I wasn't sure if it was for college credit.

I was hoping I could attend the Physiology seminars, however, it conflicts with my work schedule and I do not think my boss will be OK with me not coming in for 3 hrs 2x a week for a month. I'm really bummed about it because given the terrible instruction I received at Malcolm X, I could use extra lectures.

I started my Fafsa about a month ago and I am searching like crazy for any scholarships/grants. This being a second career for me I'm feeling a little guilty about racking on additional loans..:-(

I think that's pretty much it....

Hi everyone,

I'm applying for the fall 2012 program and just was curious for those of you accepted what GPA you all had....i know the program is competitive and am just looking to see what i'm working with here. Very excited to apply at Depaul, UIC, and Rush. Any information on the program, or the average accepted student would be great! So glad I found this thread and congrats to all those admitted and best of luck on the next application people to those still trying to get in!

:)

Has anyone else not received their prereq evals? I'm enrolled for physiology this summer and want to make sure I'm headed in the right direction!

I still haven't received my prereq evaluations either, has anyone gotten an email yet?

Thanks!

I received an email last week.

Iowa2012 - good luck! it is competitive out there. I don't know many stats on student acceptance. I have a 3.25 GPA. I have an accounting degree and most of my lower grades were in accounting and finance classes. I had all A's in sciences and prereqs.

Do any of you have the info re: the physiology seminar? I didn't get that message from the CON. I think some of you are going, right?

I just checked my status for my application and it now says "Decision: Admit/Accept". :D

I received an email last Friday with the pre-req evals. For those who haven't received yours yet maybe they are going by speciality.

Has anyone on the waitlist heard anything yet?? The deadline for payment was the 15th so I thought maybe I'd hear if people waitlisted were accepted. Good luck to you guys!

I received a phone call about the seminar and signed up that way. I would send a quick email to CON and see if you can be added to the list. I think there are 8 class total- Monday and Wednesdays for four weeks.

Very exciting MissPriss! I just set up my my.uic account. I feel official!

I just spoke to Julie Kim and she said that the physiology seminar is not for us, it's for students in the traditional nursing program or something like that. she said that she will send out info to all of us clarifying it. so, we can look for that. I did receive my pre req eval and all I need is research methods. I will prob take that online in the fall.

CPA,

I just set up my my.uicaccount too!!! Thanks for sharing that info- I didn't know about it.
