UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

Hello Everyone! So glad I found the forum. I suppose with the anticipation of the notification emails/letters we are all nervous and searching the web for any helpful information. I'm so glad to see that someone contacted Julie to inquire about the date when notifications would be sent. I bombarded her email during the application process, I was afraid to start again..:-) Anywho, just wanted to come online and join the forum to share my anxiety with you all :-)

I also received an e-mail from Julie Kim re notifications on April 25. OMG - that's not eight weeks away!

Welcome, Promise! There is plenty of anxiety to go around! :)

do you guys know if the april 25th notification is applicable to all the specialties?

[color=gray]/oh, and i don't think i ever apologized for my excessive use of smilies in an earlier post-i was just a bit loopy from getting interview invite sunday at 10pm, 2 hours before the deadline. sorry!

phoenix,

I wouldn't apologize for your smiley faces. Everyone here seems to be in the same emotional state and we are all very excited for you!

I agree! Don't apologize for smileys! I just hope we're all smiling next week! I can't believe we have to wait until next week. I was really hoping for the end of this week, but I think the school might be off for Good Friday. Good luck to everyone!!!!

You too CPA. I am currently addicted to this blog and keep refreshing like crazy incase someone hears something earlier.

hahaha misspriss, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Thanks, guys! As for constantly refreshing this page, well, there's always the list of us currently on the page at the bottom of allnurses.com, so I know we're in good company. :)

I'm just surprised by the 4/25 date for PMH, they just had about half the interviews yesterday.

That's too funny. We are all in the same position! WAITING!!!

I have no idea if they will notify for all specialties next week. Was anyone able to confirm that?

Thanks for the welcome Seaster..:).

I wasn't thinking about the notifications until this past weekend, then all of a sudden its all I think about. I'm even having nightmares. All this time, I've been thinking the 25th is Friday! Now that I know I have to wait through the weekend, I think I may irritating my family members through Easter dinner with my worries :( This weather isn't helping much...if it were nice I could distract myself with outdoor activities. *grumble, grumble, grumble...*

Hey Phoenix, it was nice meeting you last Friday, hope your interview went well, I don't know how mine went.

Why am I 99% certain your application hadn't been read at all by the interviewer before you met? Same here. However, as the first in the lottery to have your interview, what you may not have realized is that they didn't just take the next applicant in right after you. I'm betting they read our applications after the interview if they liked us, and if that's the case, then I know yours was read because the second applicant got anxious and walked to the room before being called and she was told they weren't ready for her. :) (Unless, of course, your interview got walked in on, but it didn't sound like that's what happened to her.)

Btw-I know your last name of probably pretty common, but you don't happen to have a brother named Abidemi, do you? If so, i think I went to high school with him. :)
