UHV Second Degree BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

Hi all, anybody out there applying for this program? I haven't seen an updated thread on it yet. I just finished applying to UHV- just waiting on NursingCAS to receive my final transcript for my application to be considered "complete" I'm also applying to UTHSCH UTHSCSA accelerated programs, and TWU-Houston traditional BSN program. I have my B.S. in Human Biology from UT Austin in Spring 2010. My undergrad GPA was definitely less than stellar, but all my pre-req coursework is not too bad. What is y'alls impression of this program?

Hi @pinkgem7 ! When you apply on Apply Texas the first selection you will click on will be "Transfer" and then the next page will give you the option for "2nd Degree Program" something like that, I don't know the exact way they have it on there.

I still haven't received my ID # or any UHV info that lets me sign into an email...

Hey y'all. I'm currently in this program and here's some advice I have for y'all for the interview day. I was stalking this forum around the same time last year so I know how you guys feel. Some tips:

1. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. If they say no talking, then no talking. Do what is asked of you -- they want to see you're able to follow directions.

2. Be good at group working. Our interviews had nothing that was one on one except the computer component. With the computers - just be able to work the internet, send an email. If you're reading this forum, you'll be fine. With the group work - help each other, work well with others, don't take over and over dominate... make your team look good... FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! Watch your time during presentations etc.

3. DRESS PROFESSIONALLY and bring your portfolios with all your documents. I'm not sure what they require you to bring but be sure to have it. I saw someone mention the blue card -- you will need that for any nursing school so go ahead and have that done (you just have to have proof that you paid for it/scheduled it -- most of our blue cards didn't come in the mail till the program started).

We didn't have any one-on-one interviews last year but I'm not sure how they're organizing it this year. Lastly, be confident, kind, and calm. I'm sure you will all do great!

Let me know if you all have any questions... GOOD LUCK! :)

Thank you jennytmuw! Found it! :-)

Thanks for the info! Do you think a pale pink pencil skirt (falls below knee) with black button up would be too much color/not as professional? I have a black pencil skirt...but I love this thrift store pink skirt of mine. And shows personality. I can withhold from wearing it though :/ lol

Thank you @Chocolate88 !! very much appreciated:yes: There are many of you (past students) that are taking the time to advice and help us! Wow! That's awesome!!

To my surprise I received my ID in my Hotmail email (which I don't check much) a couple days after I applied on ApplyTexas, which is weird because I have never typed that email into the UHV applications.

Then I noticed that ID is the one from when I went to University of Houston that one time. Now that I know UHV is literally in the same system as UH, I am thinking that it is okay that I do not have anything on my "To Do" list.

What do you all have in the "to do" list? I don't see anything in mine or maybe I'm not looking at the right place...weird...All I see is "App Pending Sch Nurs Review"

Same here. My ID is exactly the same as when I went to UHCL. There is nothing on my "To Do" list, but when I click on admission status that is where it says pending school of nursing review, or something like that. I think my application status says "incomplete" but I believe that will change if we get accepted.

Ok I am having issues with the application...

I started with selecting " transfer" option but the next page takes me to " select semester" and then "My first choice school" or second.....I dont see the Postbacc option.... What am I missing here??

I think you choose school of nursing. Is that an option? Or it might be University of Houston Victoria. Sorry, I don't have my computer. Leave the second choice school blank.

Thanks lbaum... that helped!

You're welcome!

Hello everyone!

I wish everyone the best of luck on interview day! I know we all have worked very hard for this and deserve it.
