Hi all, anybody out there applying for this program? I haven't seen an updated thread on it yet. I just finished applying to UHV- just waiting on NursingCAS to receive my final transcript for my application to be considered "complete" I'm also applying to UTHSCH UTHSCSA accelerated programs, and TWU-Houston traditional BSN program. I have my B.S. in Human Biology from UT Austin in Spring 2010. My undergrad GPA was definitely less than stellar, but all my pre-req coursework is not too bad. What is y'alls impression of this program?
Has anyone tried to complete the Apply Texas application yet? I have been trying, but I think I am missing something...the email says put post-baccalaureate option, but my application isn't giving me that option. I think I remember someone talking about this last year on the boards, so I will go look again, but I was just wondering if any one else has had this issue. I am looking forward to meeting everyone!
I thought they interviewed somewhere around 80. I could be wrong. It was something slightly close to the acceptance #, I think, bc I remember a past forum mentioning that getting an interview means you have a very good chance of acceptance. (Why else would they send us to pay for all that BON background check business?)
Sooo question about the Fast Pass. We need to have actually gone to our appointment before our 12/2 interview, correct? And I assume they'll give us the paper that shows we attended? IDK if you all know, but does our background check need to come back clear before the interview? I'm not worried about passing, rather, don't know if there is a clearance waiting period to be accounted for before the interview.
I'm still deciding between UHV and TWU, holding one last strand of hope for UTHSC Houston BSN program. Anyway, I'm so conflicted that I don't want to fully commit to paying for a background check for this program until I absolutely have to. Timing is going to be tough between what is required from UHV and TWU's background check, orientations..etc. (I accepted for TWU not knowing about any other schools yet)
Hi ya'll! So I mentioned I was not going to go to the interview if I was accepted to a nursing school in Austin; well I was not accepted to the one in Austin And so I will be going to the interview and hoping for UHV to accept me!
It'll be cheaper to stay home as well so I'm hoping for the best :)
@apriljacklynn Hi! I think you should go ahead and do the fast pass because so far the schools that I've applied to have asked for that Blue Card; eventually you will need it so I think you should get it. Yes you get to keep that fast pass paper, the person who does your fingerprinting has to sign it. I did mine last Monday and I still haven't received the Blue Card.
And I empathize with you on all this waiting we have to do and conflicting things
No worries everything will turn out okay!!
Well then we look forward to meeting you at the interview, Jenny!
Apriljacklynn, I agree with Jenny. I would go ahead and get the background check done. I don't believe you have to "pass" the background check before the interview, they just want to see that you went to the appointment. You could wait and go the week before the interview, and just bring your fast pass form to the interview that they will sign when you go in for fingerprinting. You don't have to have the blue card at the time of the interview.
I have my appointment today! I've been working on getting all of my immunizations this week as well. Can't wait until the interview!

Dress business casual/professional of course. I'd wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking a lot. I think they are changing things around this time for interviews so I can't really advise you there. I would say just come prepared with any kind of information they provide you! Be yourself :-)
