So I applied for a Behavioral Health Care Advocate Position with United HealthCare.
The next day 1 received a call from the recruiter about a mistake on my answers to one of the questions, so I changed the answer and was sent a link to complete a video interview.
Completed the video interview (hated it)!!! I thought I sucked so bad thought they would change my status to "No Longer Under Consideration":crying2:
However, I received an email congratulating me on getting a phone interview. The email states that they are giving me a benefits brochure to help me prepare for the interview.
The interview is with the same recruiter that I spoke with before.
Is this normal? I thought the interview would be about my experience not benefits!!!
Been there,done that, ASN, RN

It's about applying your experience to applying the benefits UHG offers their members.
Remember, UHG is all about paying for the correct care for the correct diagnosis. Your role is to save the company payout costs.
It's an employee benefits brochure!
Over thought THAT! Well in that case, seems your in! Congrats.
Do they let recruiters hire people? I thought the recruiter would send it to the hiring manager so they can conduct an in person interview? So confused, well, I fill find out today, my interview is in 2 hours! Wish me luck and thanks for replying!!
Also, My status says "initial screening".

I'm amused to hear they even have positions called "Behavioral Health Care Advocate." Advocating for who, them or their customers? Back when I was doing psych UR United Healthcare was well known in my area for being the absolute worst insurance company to have to deal with in psych -- they didn't want to pay for anything for anybody, regardless.

Hi,
I think I can offer some insight. I recently interviewed with both HR and the hiring manager for a different positron. Sadly, I wasn't offered the position but the experience with interviewing with UHG was helpful. I didn't have the virtual interview, but the HR phone interview was very informal. It took less than 30 minutes and that was because she was about 10 minutes late calling me (which she did apologize for).
My thought is the HR people schedule these interviews on the 30 minutes, so if a call runs long or there is an issue, it can quickly put them behind schedule. It is the HR person's responsibility to discuss wages and benefits of the position so if a job offer is forthcoming, you have the info needed to either accept or decline the job. I have a feeling the HR is trying to streamline the process. Let you see the benefits up front so they don't have to go through them all but rather answer any questions you might have. I think you'll still have an interview with a hiring manager and that is usually all the position specifics.
From a friend who works there I was told that once the hiring manager makes their decision, the HR person calls to make the job offer. Of course, every position is different and so is the process used, but I have a feeling giving you the employee benefits info is a way to streamline the process.
Best of luck to you! It's a tough company to get an interview with (from my experience). Please keep us posted how things go.
I received my call today. She was only 5 minutes late, so not too bad. She didn't even ask me about benefits, she did ask what I'm making now and what salary I want. I used the same salary I put on the application, she said that it Is within what they are planning to offer (should have went a little higher, )
She told me she is referring me to the hiring manager and either I will have another telephone interview or a in person interview, depending on the schedule. She stated I will here back from them within 1 1/2 weeks.
She also stated that there is only one opening for this position; which is a work from home job, but she just posted another job in the office and would I be interested in that job (basically if I didn't get this one), it is a UM job with 3 openings, I said of course!! So we will see, wish me luck!!!
I can't Private Message yet, so just some info on the Virtual interview through HireVue.
Questions:
1. What are your strengths? Taylor to the job duties listed!!
2. Name a time when you had to make a decision without all the information
3. Job for last 3-5 years, reasons you left, coworkers, and responsibilities
4. Name a time when you had to teach someone something in a different way because they couldn't understand (or something like that)
5. Can't remember the last one:nailbiting:
They tell you not to Prepare, PREPARE!! They tell you to dress casual, I had on a nice black button down shirt and light makeup. Couldn't see the bottoms, so had on some jeans and no shoes . I made sure my lighting was really good and the area behind me simple and not distracting.
Do the practice questions!!! I thing one of them was a question! You can practice as long as you want, it is just like the real deal. When I first practiced, I thought my voice was too loud, but when I played it back it was too soft.
Personality, I made sure I smiled a lot and showed my personality.
Use the STAR method to answer the question. Situation, Task, Action, Result. They give you 1-3 minutes to answer, make it short and sweet so you won't start rambling on (like me when I get nervous)
When you answer the scenario questions, tailor your answer to the job duties listed. Big Yes!!!
I thought I was terrible, but I looked nice and I showed personality, so if you don't think you did your best there is still hope!!!

Sounds good! Best of luck.
Please watch your spelling though...it's tailor, not taylor.. "I fill find out ". Honestly, they look for that kind of stuff! One wrong word in your documentation can boot them out of compliance with their regulatory bodies.

I make sure my documentation is on point at my actual job, this info was just for this posting and I didn't spell check, sorry for the typos.
My face-to-face interview is today, so nervous but excited. Thanks for all the responses.

Hi! I work for UHC as a Prior Auth Nurse, but I also worked for them as a Service Coordinator (Case Manager). Both are work from home positions and I love it! UHC/UHG is a very tech-oriented company, so you will be required to use your computer for EVERYTHING. When you are able, you can private message me for more info. Congrats!!
