UH Manoa Nursing Fall 2014

U.S.A. Hawaii

Did anyone here apply for Fall 2014 admission to Manoa's School of Nursing? We're supposed to be notified in late March and I'm getting really anxious!

Oh okay. Kind of similar to my stats hopefully I get in too! Which test did you hand in to Manoa?

I'm sure you will get In :) I handed in both.

Hahaha yea it was a cruel cruel joke!! Admissions had no idea why it was being emailed out but they said it's just for the admission to manoa not the nursing program.

Haha, that is so mean! I thought acceptance into UH depended on acceptance into the nursing program? So if the nursing program didn't accept you neither would the university? Idk...

does anybody know how they look at TEAS scores? Do they only look at your highest percentage or the overall % or what?

Hi Cupycake, your acceptance into UH does not depend on your nursing acceptance. you could get accepted into UH but not the nursing program. When you apply they put you into "Pre-nursing" declared major.

You have nothing to worry about! Your scores are super awesome! :) I am pretty sure you were accepted into KCC too. And UH accepts more students who are not residents compared to KCC, who gives priority to residents. It sucks that one year away caused you lose resident status.

Thanks, I hope you're right! I'm pretty sure I won't get into KCC though :( The advisor told me that it is very unlikely that I'll get in, even with perfect scores, if I'm not a resident. Wish they would have some exception for people who were born, grew up and lived here most of their lives, etc.. oh well

JUST GOT MY ACCEPTANCE FOR KCC! Woohoo!! You were right Ellers! Now if I get accepted by UH I'll have a tough decision to make on which school to attend! At least I have acceptance from one school...whew!

Congrats cupycake! I knew you'd get accepted! I lean towards kcc only because of cost but I do think both programs are good. :) and kcc has more clinical hands on compared to UH.

Thanks guys!

I am leaning more towards KCC because of cost.. but idk! Do you know if they both have the same student to teacher ratio? I'd prefer to go to the one with a smaller class size but maybe they're the same.

I think that the ratio for Manoa must be small as well; that's why they only accept 56 students. But both programs are really good. It's just the cost difference :p I've heard that hospitals really like nurses from KCC though.

Btw, are you going to UH to get your letter tomorrow? I'm debating on if I should just wait for the official letter or not..

I think I will still go pick up my letter tomorrow, but now I can at least walk in and be like whatever haha..

True.. I also like that KCC doesn't use the plus/minus grading system so that's another plus. I will definitely go on to get my BSN at Manoa though

I got accepted!!! I am in shock haha
