I’m surprised that no one has created a forum for Cohort 2021 yet when application opens in a few weeks. Anyone here planning to apply to Manoa’s GEPN ‘21 program or is already in the program willing to give advice? Pointers? Feel free to share ??⚕️

I'm so sorry this happened but I'm glad that you will still have a spot if one opens. This means that they see your potential and likely wish that they had more slots available. Have you applied to any other schools? All my eggs are in one basket, so to speak (I've only applied to UH because their program is exactly what I've dreamt of, I live here, and I plan to stay in Hawai'I for the rest of my life to serve the people).

I got an email from Chris about 2 weeks ago that we would have to take 2-3 classes from UH Manoa ONLY to qualify for the BSN track after our prelicensure year.
Could you share these classes with us? I will be taking the BSN option (if fortunate enough to be accepted).

I applied to a couple other schools, but I was really hoping for this program! I had mixed feelings because I am disappointed I didn't get in but still glad that I didn't get denied! I hope you get in!!

@veg321, I'm hopeful that one of your other schools works out and also hopeful that a spot opens for you because having options is such a comfort. Today, while I wrestled with my own anxiety over not knowing what will happen, I was struck with this singular thought:
How extraordinary to have a nursing program overwhelmed with applicants in the midst of a truly harrowing pandemic! It is proof positive that there are lots of people who run to help instead of running away.
Sending you warm wishes and lots of encouragement!

Thank you so much! That is such an uplifting way to look at things after a year like 2020. Same to you!!
Aloha all,
I was not selected for admission to the GEPN-DNP 2021 semester. I've written the GEPN staff to see what I can do to improve myself in the next nine months in order to be accepted. There was no mention of a wait list, so I can only assume that I did not even make that.
I wish everyone well. Hope to see you in the fall of 2022.
my only advice to those who are applying for upcoming cycles is to apply early! have your essays prepared over the Summer so when September rolls around, your application can be at the top of the pile! also showing that you are dedicated to nursing in your essay and from work experience is a bonus. best of luck!!
I tried to send a private message but was not allowed. I would love to know what a typical week is like for you! How many days do you spend in class, clinicals, labs etc and how long is each day usually?
Thank you!
