I’m surprised that no one has created a forum for Cohort 2021 yet when application opens in a few weeks. Anyone here planning to apply to Manoa’s GEPN ‘21 program or is already in the program willing to give advice? Pointers? Feel free to share ??⚕️

I am a current student in Cohort 2020 (or Cohort 13) going on to the DNP track after GEPN. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. ?
Hi! Can you (or anyone else) tell me how clinical experiences have changed due to covid? Are you currently getting normal hours again? Are there any specific rotations you weren't able to do? For example, one school I got into still isn't doing labor and delivery.

Sure! Clinical locations has slowly opened up and I think Hawaii is one of the few states that most clinical locations are opened from 50-100% capacity this semester. Last semester most of our clinicals were online or limited to the lab. Our labor and delivery rotation is in the Summer, and as of right now we are still scheduled to go in (please be mindful that this can change any time) and we were all fitted for a N95 mask. Hope this helps!
Hello,
I just wanted to let you all know that I dropped out of the program and they told me my spot will be given to the next person on the waitlist! Best of luck to whoever that is and also best of luck to you all! Whether you're using this as a stepping stone or this is going to be your actual career. Never give up even though it may seem tough.
Hi
I am planning on apply in September to the 2022 cycle for the Manoa GEPN program and wanted to learn about how competitive the program is to gauge my likelihood of getting in! I graduated with a Neuroscience degree and a GPA of 3.2. I am concerned that my GPA is not high enough to get into certain programs but am hoping that my resume boosts my chances. In undergrad I participated in Chemistry research, volunteered for Big Brother Big Sister, and was the President of the Special Olympics Program on campus. I also worked for 1.5 years as a CNA in a hospital after graduating and am taking online classes to boost my GPA. If anyone has any insight or advice I would appreciate it!

Hi Emma!
Feel free to reach out via my instagram (@kumaashiro) if you would like to talk in private. The first semester was quite lecture heavy, and I think the hours will depend on where your strengths are. Classes are once a week, and the length depends on the credit hours allocated per class. Do note that the university is hopeful that they'll get back in person for fall, so the experience may differ.
