I’m surprised that no one has created a forum for Cohort 2021 yet when application opens in a few weeks. Anyone here planning to apply to Manoa’s GEPN ‘21 program or is already in the program willing to give advice? Pointers? Feel free to share ??⚕️

Been coming back here for the 2021 cohort forum. I just decided to pursue nursing and still would need to do some prereqs before I apply. So I’ll probably apply for 2022. What’s your background in? Is this your first time applying?

Hi,
I feel that maybe a forum wasn’t made this year due to the pandemic starting in the middle of Spring 2020. This whole year may or may not have affected people for x, y, or z reasons. When you apply for the program at UH Manoa, it already cost $170 out of pocket. I believe my friend that is already in the program, told me that this program is considered a post-bac program, meaning you have to find your funding. For most people, that’s a lot of money to consider after already completing all the pre-requisites. Secondly, they updated the application process this cycle compared to previous years. Instead of 7 required pre-requisites, there are 6. This year you need to pass all 6 with a B or better. In the past, you only need to pass PHYL 141/L and 142/L with a B and BIOC and MICR with a B- and and the other classes with a C. Finally, instead of one essay there are two.

Hello everyone,
I'm planning to apply for UHM GEPN after I finish my bachelor's. I was just wondering what the competitive GPA to get accepted is. I know there are other factors like experience, award/accomplishments, etcetera. But I was just wondering if my GPA is competitive enough. Thank you.

Hi, everyone.
I am currently working on my prerequisites for the GEPN 2021 cohort. As for GPA, I believe they are looking at a minimum of 3.0 from your non-nursing Bachelor.
I am going to begin working on my essay and resume as well since the application process begins on Tuesday.

Is anyone else waiting? From reading the previous Cohort's forums, we should find out by the end of October. I'm so excited, good luck everyone!
Hi! I haven't really heard about when we would find out if we get accepted or not. I do know that they start reviewing applications, etc. as of this month. I completed my applications this past weekend as well as submitting my official transcripts and whatnot. If I do hear sooner, I will update you all and I am hoping vice versa. Good luck everyone!!

Hi all! I submitted my documents September 7th and sent in my transcripts on the 13th. GEPN confirmed that the application was complete and forwarded for review on September 24th if that helps with timeline. Will update if anything changes. Good luck !

Hi all. I'm also applying for the GEPN program and leaning towards family med. I'm from Guam, which is super close to Hawaii. Where are you guys from?
I have an undergrad GPA below 3.0 so I'm going to take my chances. Do you guys have any idea how many applicants they'll take? I'm working on my essay so I should turn in my app by this weekend.
I live on the island of Oahu.
As for applicants, I believe they are accepting and reviewing all application submissions from 09/01/2020 and their deadline is 02/05/2021. I did my applications and official transcripts a couple of weeks ago, which is now under review so it's just patiently waiting to hear the results.
I have my Master's degree and completed the first year of my Doctoral program with another University so I am under the assumption that they will review my GPA from whichever is sufficient. They do require at least 2 of the science pre-requisites to be completed by 02/05/2021.

Hi CPAtoNurse,
This is my first time applying to the program. I have my MHA and completed the first year of my DHA.
