UFV BSN Winter 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey Everybody,

This is a thread for everybody applying for the UFV Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program for the Winter (January) 2019 intake.

We can talk about our grades and GPA's, volunteer or work experience's, other schools we're applying to and so forth.

Good Luck everybody!

Thank you adelinna that helped alot, also would you know if anyone that has 3a's and 1 b has gotten into the program?

My pleasure.

Yes I know several people who got in with 3 A's and 1 B.

Good Luck!

I wonder how long until we find out, has anyone looked at previous years Jan intake for an approx. timeline of when they send out acceptance emails?

I was told early November with November 15th being the deadline

People who are already in the nursing program a UFV, how do you like it ?!?!

I love the fact that I've started my journey to becoming an RN, but it is hard. No joke. 5 classes, all very demanding. A&P being the hardest (For me at least). So to anyone that's done A&P already you got a leg up.

We learn the basics in the first semester, but after my first couple midterms I've found it more complicated than I first thought. Schedule is demanding. I spend all my weekends studying for the next weeks classes and any quiz or exams coming up.

But take heart 100s of people have done this before you and will after you.

You're in a group of either 31 or 47 other students going through the same thing as you. You'll laugh together, cry together, moan and groan about all the readings you had to do and how confusing the APA formatting is, and rejoice together as you all pass those milestones in reaching your end goal of passing NCLEX and joining the world of RNs.

(that was a little long)

What I'm trying to say is you can do it! Not alone, but you can do this! With the support of your family, friends, fellow nursing students and the instructors you can do this.

Are the instructors really nice and supportive ?!? My sister is in nursing at a different school and she says that some of her teachers are really not supportive and have a very sink or swim attitude and mostly say "look it up" or "figure it out" "I'm not gonna hold your hand" type attitude

They are supportive, but they definitely expect you to come to class prepared. Having done the readings and assignments.

Nursing school is tough they don't hold your hand, but while saying that, they do understand that everything is new to us and let us ask all our questions.

Good Luck!

Does anyone know if acceptance packages are sent out by regular mail or email? If it's by regular mail I'm worried that it'll take longer to receive packages because of the Canada Post strike :/

You get an email telling you you're in, you're not in, or you're on the waitlist. And then an "official" letter comes in the mail later, if you were accepted. I got my "Congratulations" letter yesterday and I'm over half way through my first semester.

Does anyone know if there is a forum like this for the Fall 2019 intake?
