UFV BSN Winter 2019

Published

Hey Everybody,

This is a thread for everybody applying for the UFV Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program for the Winter (January) 2019 intake.

We can talk about our grades and GPA's, volunteer or work experience's, other schools we're applying to and so forth.

Good Luck everybody!

I'll start things off.

I have 16 months work experience as a Porter at ARH. No volunteer experience.

I got A's in all pre reqs. I've taken Stats 104, Soc 101, English 105 and Punjabi 101 at UFV.

At the moment I'm on the waiting list for September's intake and am signed up for the Anatomy class.

What about you? (Don't be shy, we're all trying to help each other out)

So Guy's and Gal's Exciting News!!

I got into Septembers intake.

I'll be starting the BSN Nursing program in September!!

Good luck to all of you applying for January i.e. Winter 2019.

If any of you have any questions just ask me. I'd be happy to help!

Hey! I sent in my application for the January 2019 intake (first time applicant!) and was wondering if when you guys wrote down your volunteer experience if you also wrote down non-health care volunteer experience? I have over 1000 hours with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Canadian Red Cross and other organizations combined. I only have about 60 from the hospital I volunteer at. Anyways, what did you guys do? Also does anyone know if you can submit additional reference letters? I want them to capture the full scale of my volunteer experiences :) I have an A in Biology 12, an A in Chemistry 11, a B in Pre-Calc 12 and an A+ in English 105. I also have an A in HSC 111, an A in PSYCH 101 and a B in ENGL 108 (according to the UFV grading scale). Good luck to all!

I'll just put what I wrote for the other thread here:

They only ask for health care related volunteer experience. You definitely can include other volunteer experience if you want too.

I didn't included any volunteer experience at all. Because I only have work experience at a health care facility.

I have been volunteering for over 6 years at multiple other places but didn't think they'd care so I didn't bother mentioning it, maybe I'm wrong maybe it would've helped, who knows?

As for the GPA the closer you are to 4.0 the better, but it really depends on the other applicants for your intake and how high all their GPA's are.

The GPA points aren't everything if you kill the essay and interview you got a great chance!

Good luck!

Hey guys!

I'm also applying for the January 2019 intake. I have 3 A's and 1 B in the prerequisite courses, and I have 8 years experience volunteering at the hospital. I've also completed some of the other courses within the program at other institutions. I'm super nervous about my application, but I'm hoping that being a part of this thread will make it a little easier :) hopefully we can all help each other through the process.

Hey guys! I'm also applying for Winter 2019. Right now I'm upgrading my math and english and I have A's in Bio 12 and Chem 11. I have also taken English 105, Psych 1100, Anthropology 1100, Sociology, and Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2. I have 100+ volunteer hours at the Blood Clinic. And I'm going to be getting a reference for there and my actual work place! Good luck to everyone applying!! I'm sure we're all super nervous

Hi all,

So great to be a part of this thread.

I'm applying for January 2019.

Nearly 12years work experience in health care as a unit clerk.

I just finished my application yesterday! 3 A's and 1 B. I have 109 volunteer hours. I got a reference from my volunteer supervisor and my manager at work too. I'm super nervous

I wonder how many people are applying for this semester??

Hey everyone!

I'm a first time applicant for the 2019 winter take in.

~ Suuuuuper Nervous about the whole process!

I have 3 A's in Bio, Chem and Math and an A+ in English. Approximately 130 hospital volunteer hours.

Have many people heard of first time applicants being accepted?

Good luck to all ... I imagine some type of news should be coming our way in the next few weeks!

Welcome!!

All A's are good, more than 100 volunteer experience is good.

I've met quite a lot of first time applicants in this last intake i.e. Fall 2018

And a few third time applicants... So take heart either way!

If your committed and determined and give it your best you'll get there.

Just make sure Nursing is for you...it's no cake walk.

Getting the A&P done before hand does make it easier, if that's an option for you.

Looking forward to meeting some (hopefully all) of you in January!
