Hi! Anyone apply to the DNP program for fall 2014 at the University of Florida?
I may have been slightly overwhelmed with eagerness and called UF again this morning. They still aren't done with the process and it did not sound like they would be sending the letters in the next couple of days. When I asked if it would be this week, she laughed a little bit and said "Maybe." It did not sound very reassuring.... So hopefully this week?
Okay, so I am a student currently at UF in the Accelerated class of 2014, and I applied to the Acute Pediatric DNP program for this cycle. I stopped by the office today to see what the holdup was on the letters being sent out. There have been some staffing changes, and that's why they're behind on decisions.
Currently, they are trying to figure out how many positions they have available in each program. It depends on available clinical faculty and preceptors.
Ken (the super-advisorman) said that he should be sending out letters by the end of the week for some of the programs. He didn't say which ones. Some letters might not leave his office until next Friday.
So NO letters have been sent out yet. They're still finalizing a lot of the details. Best of luck to everyone, and if anyone needs housing suggestions if you're moving from out of town in to Gainesville, let me know and I'll point you in some good directions!
Hello! Good luck to all of you waiting to hear back from UF! I'm currently in a BSN program at UCF and my ultimate goal is to attend UF's BSN-DNP program. However, I have a few questions about the process and need some advice on a few things. I don't want to spam your board since I'm not a fall applicant but was wondering if anyone would be willing to e-mail/message/chat with me because I'm not sure how to get in contact with any current UF DNP students. Thank you :)

You can probably just ask here. We're all just hanging out checking the mail every day!

Okay, thanks!!
1). Does anyone know if they prefer you to have prior experience before applying? I would like to go straight from my BSN program to their program unless they prefer otherwise.
2). If they don't mind lack of experience, can you apply before you've even graduated from the BSN program/taken the NCLEX? I won't graduate until next Summer (2015) so I'm trying to figure out if I'd be allowed to apply for Fall 2015 or if I'd have to wait until Fall 2016.
3). Anyone know what the class sizes are? How many apply/they accept? I'm interested in the PMHNP track.
Any other recommendations? I would greatly appreciate any information :)
Sorry for all the questions, thanks again!!
Hello nvictoria
to answer that I can...
1) you get special consideration for experience but it is not a requirement
2) i graduate with my bsn in August and therefore haven't taken the nclex either and I was able to apply.
3)I don't know class sizes but acceptance depends on the track you applied for. I also applied for pmh and I think it's safe to assume that has the least applicants
hope that helps!
