UF BSN-DNP 2014
This UF- wide grad school orientation is pretty boring and definitely not mandatory. My SO went to it a few years ago and he said he pretty much read a book the entire time. I imagine all questions will be answered at the Aug 22 orientation. Also, the UF DNP FB group isn't showing up when I try to search... Is it a secret group?

My letter came today as well! I'll be at the Pediatric Acute DNP program in August!

UF BSN-DNP 2014
Update from (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) office today: The letters, as of yesterday, were stacked in piles on his desk. No one should have found out by now. The PhD acceptances went out last week, but the DNP letters at the earliest, were mailed yesterday. The midwifery program met yesterday to make final decisions, so those aren't out yet. They might send the remaining program letters out today or Monday, but they might also wait until midwifery makes their decisions and send them all out as a group.

12 Month BSN or 15 Month MSN?
Honestly, it depends on what you want to do. Do you want to provide daily bedside care, give medications and treatments and be there with your patients during the entire shift? It's a great opportunity for interpersonal connection and can pay very well for working 3-4 days per week. This would be your BSN route. Alternatively, your MSN would allow you to be a Nurse Practitioner (NP) which means diagnosing patients, providing prescriptions and treatment plans, and directing care. If you work in a hospital it's likely going to be shift work (again, 3-4 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift like an RN). You could also work in primary care, working perhaps 8-6 every day during the week. There are so many options out there and each is good for a different type of person with different life/family/career goals.

UF BSN-DNP 2014
I won't have my BSN until August either. It's more about the work you have currently done and recommendations, as well as your plan for your graduate school future. They know that pretty much everyone that comes out of a BSN program receives similar education. I would encourage you to apply ASAP! However, as it's pretty late in the application cycle, it might benefit you more to have a couple of semesters worth of experience under your belt. It might make you more comfortable about applying.

UF BSN-DNP 2014
My second hand information is this: the advisers have still not sent out ANY acceptance letters as of this afternoon. Tomorrow I will be going to the Dean of Students office along with a fellow student currently in the class of 2014 ASBN program who has applied to the Acute Pediatric DNP as well. We will try to figure out what the hold up is and let you all know accordingly. I know a lot of you have to make living arrangements and such, or let your jobs know if you'll be attending graduate school this fall. Again, let me know if there's any information you need regarding housing options (Gainesville has a LOT of apartment complexes, some good, some bad, some far away) or other kinds of general information that you may not get from just random internet searching. Feel free to friend me on Facebook: Hanna Chilton, and we can talk! Best of luck to all of you, again.

DNP programs UF vs. USF Tampa
I know you posted this quite a while ago, but are you still looking for info on the DNP program at UF?

UF BSN-DNP 2014
Okay, so I am a student currently at UF in the Accelerated class of 2014, and I applied to the Acute Pediatric DNP program for this cycle. I stopped by the office today to see what the holdup was on the letters being sent out. There have been some staffing changes, and that's why they're behind on decisions. Currently, they are trying to figure out how many positions they have available in each program. It depends on available clinical faculty and preceptors. Ken (the super-advisorman) said that he should be sending out letters by the end of the week for some of the programs. He didn't say which ones. Some letters might not leave his office until next Friday. So NO letters have been sent out yet. They're still finalizing a lot of the details. Best of luck to everyone, and if anyone needs housing suggestions if you're moving from out of town in to Gainesville, let me know and I'll point you in some good directions!
