UF BSN-DNP 2014

Published

Hi! Anyone apply to the DNP program for fall 2014 at the University of Florida?

Hi FLDNP! I was actually trying to reach out to see if any UF students were on this thread. I also got accepted to UF's FNP part time program and was wondering if you could provide insight on how you feel about the program. I am trying to decide between two universities and I am very torn. Do you like UF's program? Is it online based? I live in Jacksonville so I understand that there is a Jax based campus and was wondering how that works. Any info would be great! Thanks so much in advance!

Another day, another empty P.O. box. Every day I am telling myself as I walk into the post office 'it's going to be there, you know it is. It's finally here, today is the day!'. And then on my way out of the post office 'I told you it wouldn't be there today'. My pessimistic side seems to be winning today . Oh well. In the words of the great man himself "Today is gone. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one." (Thanks Dr. Seuss!).

Did you figure it out? I can't find the form to download either?

Yes I emailed the clerk who originally sent us the certified background info and she emailed me the form.... Go ahead and email her to be safe

I thought she would have just emailed it out to everyone lol

aleyRN , congrats on getting accepted! I too had to make the difficult decision between schools last year. Clearly, I chose UF and so far, I couldn't be more pleased. Saying that, I don't believe there is any program out there that is perfect. UF does have its faults and problems just like any other school, but none that are major. I must say, grad school is much different and it takes awhile to adjust from the nurse to the provider but the professors understand this and do help with the process. Also, the professors at UF are extremely intelligent, approachable, and willing to help as much as possible. The professors are also very strict and exams really do test to make sure you understand the concepts, which I would hope is the same everywhere. The program is online for the most part. I love it and hate it at the same time. I love it because I can make my own schedule, etc. I hate it because interacting with other classmates can be difficult. The online aspect also requires a lot of self discipline (which I struggle with sometimes) because when you don't have to be physically in class for lecture, it's easy to procrastinate that lecture and other things. If you choose UF, you will have some in-person lab sessions during the first year, so make some connections with classmates then. You really cannot get through the program without other classmates. And to be specific for Jacksonville, you will have your in-person lab sessions there in Jacksonville. I believe the only thing Jax students came to Gainesville for was orientation and the Harrell Center Experience (male and female pelvic exam practice on real people). UF is a great school, I don't think you would regret coming here as your choice, but if I were you, i'd choose my gut feeling because your real answer is there. Congrats again! Hopefully I will see you around! Anything else, just ask!

FLDNP, can you read private messages? I sent you one but I'm not exactly sure how they work in regard to the amount of posts needed to send/receive. Are you able to see it?

So I finally heard back, and unfortunately I was not accepted this year. Calling to discuss with admissions soon. I know I was rushed when I submitted, and there are things that I can definitely improve upon for my application next year . Good luck this year everyone and I'm sure I'll see you around next year!

Anyone having issues with finding the fingerprint form for download? Apparently the certified pro program is not mac friendly.

@nvictoria .. I can see your message, but I cannot reply. What is your email?
