Hi everyone! Who else is applying for Fall 2020 DNP? I applied for part-time PNP program. I can't wait for decisions to come out!!

Is anyone deciding between schools? I am trying to decide between USF and UF. Thoughts?

UF was the only school that I applied to that found preceptors for the student. I have heard many horror stories and was not looking forward to searching and begging for preceptors. For me, that was the most important deciding factor. So, despite being accepted to multiple schools, UF is my #1 choice.

If both programs do that for the students, then you have to look at what works best for you. UF is all online with a few on campus intensives. I don't recall the specifics of USF's program to offer much to any comparison.

@LoveBee I'm on the same boat as you! I went to UF for undergrad but didn't get into their nursing program so getting into their DNP-FNP program means a lot to me !!

At the same time, I work at the cancer center on USF campus and going to USF seems like a practical idea for me. I also started looking into class registration for USF and it's a mix of online and live classes - which I like over all online.

I'm definitely still in the middle but definitely fortunate to have a dilemma like this ?

Congratulations everyone!! Can’t wait to meet you all at orientation!

Has anyone spoken to people who have been/are going through the program right now? I asked my friend how it was since it was all online and she said she wasn't a fan of it. She felt like a majority of the time she self-taught herself and not the same as a classroom learning experience.

Any thoughts? Just trying to weigh my options!

For me I love the online format. It allows me the freedom to plan my classwork around work and just life in general.

As far as the information getting received, I feel like it would be self taught anyway. In undergrad , lectures would be SO useless to me. Like professors only have time to go over so much so it would be surface level information. I only REALLY learned when I studied the books and used professors as a resource if there was something I didn't understand. Usually id email for clarification.

but its what works for you !

Another pro is UF finding your preceptors cause aint nobody got time for that! From talking to other NP student it sounds like an absolute nightmare.

All the programs I applied to (UCF, USF, FSU, and UF) find preceptors for you. So I’m confused as to why this keeps coming up in all the threads. Can you clarify if you have different information?

Hi! Is anyone a new grad nurse here? With hospitals in hirizing freeze, I'm wondering how people are going to manage taking on DNP while possibly being unemployed for a while. I wanted part time so I could commit to units for at least two years, but that with new grad programs getting cancelled... I'm not sure that will be able to be realistic.

Happy to have found this group. Accepted into the BSN to DNP program. See everyone at orientation!

Hi!

I was told by the DNP advisor that orientation will be via zoom and we won't get to meet in person. Does anyone know of any groups for our class or want to exchange info? :)

I emailed the advisor and she said emails would be sent in a few weeks and orientation would be Aug 28 via Zoom. Other than that, nothing else.

For sure include me in the group chat ?

Also, if anyone got into the acute care program, lmk! Let's get in touch
