  1. Happy to have found this group. Accepted into the BSN to DNP program. See everyone at orientation!
  2. Yay! Sixtie glad to hear that I won't be alone tonight! Wml93 thanks for the updated information! I am glad to know I won't look like a total fool...Well, at least not for the uniform reason. There is a whole lot of nursing school left to remedy it lol. kr96 and wml93 hope you both are able to come tonight too!
  3. Is anyone going tonight? I am hopeful that I will make 7:30 but I think I may be there more like 7:45 PM! Make that 1945 lol. Also, I emailed Ms. McN as I am now more confused than ever. I checked Raidernet and it shows that we have class Fri but it shows it as lecture not clinical. I wonder if I will forever be known as the girl who showed up in uniform on the first day when we didn't need to be? Which is worse - dressing in uniform when you aren't supposed to be or not dressing in it when you are? I hope to hear from the school by Friday or I will have a fun decision to make! Hope to see some of you tonight!
  4. OK so 7:30 Starbucks Crestview Tomorrow 08/17/16. YIKES! I guess no PM for me. Went to go send some to other members on the forum and saw this We apologize for the inconvenience but sending a Private Message is disabled for all members who have not actively participated on the site. 5. I would be up to meeting up tomorrow evening. I get off work at 7 pm and am back in town usually by 7:30 pm. Panera Bread is open late and has wifi. In addition to the math sheet and the med term I noticed that we had to watch the video from Chapter 28. The skill set sheet also had items that looked like they needed to be reviewed. Let me know if anyone is interested in meeting on 08/17/16 at 7:30 PM at Panera Bread Crestview.
  6. I am also in Crestview. I am so ready to start! I am trying to remember if on August 19th we are supposed to be there at 7 am in clinical clothes? Hopefully we will receive an email. Ms. McN has been very good about this so far! Also, I am hopeful that we will all get a FB page soon for messaging or even better an online forum in D2L would be great!
  7. I also have clinicals on Monday/Tuesday! I finally finished my CB items minus the flu which Ms. McNair said that they would override! I am so ready to get this party started! I figured out the textbook situation by selling the original one I bought and ended up buying the bundle so I have already been studying. I would love to see a FB page up and running soon but I definitely do not have the time to start it on my own (sigh). Is it August yet?
  8. How is everyone else coming along with setting everything up? I have all the items completed on my CB list except for turning in my physical which I hope to do this week. I went into the bookstore last week and apparently didn't ask the right questions because I was told our bundle was $824.00!!! Turns out that it was the wrong class (despite having the class number with me and insisting that it couldn't be right). I called the next morning and was once again told that this was the cost. So I went on Elsevier and ordered straight from them. Then I heard that the bundle was only $513 and change so back to the bookstore I went to find that it was true and I had been told wrong. Now I will end up paying $564 and change through Elsevier and having to order them! YIKES. I am having to look at it as a finance charge for being able to split the cost up over a few paychecks! Hope everyone else is doing well!
  9. I took my son to the ER a few weeks ago after a head trauma (fall while rollerblading - sans helmet) and thankfully they did not give him fluids! He probably would have made me check him out AMA if they had tried to start an IV! Also, his head CT was good.
  10. Everyone ready for next week? I took the CPR class and now need to find a place to have the health form completed. I am ready to begin this!
  11. Non-trad is Rad! Yep I just dated myself!!! I think we need a forum for the non-traditional student but then wouldn't that include almost all students??? I too am almost 40 and chose to leave college at an earlier age to pursue raising a family. I graduated last weekend with my Associate Degree in Health Services Management and start Associate Nursing in the fall of 2016 while I also plan to continue on and go for my Bachelor in Healthcare Management AT THE SAME TIME! I also plan on working and continuing to add to my professional certifications. I currently hold a certified professional coder, certified physician practice manager, and as of last week a certified professional biller certificate through AAPC. I know now that I can divide my time as my kids are older and they are able to see that hard work and dedication results in personal and professional satisfaction.
  12. I recently completed A & P I and II at the SAME time ONLINE! I ended up with an A in I and a B in II. Our classes consisted of an online book, an online cadaver dissection (Seeley), and exams and quizzes. That was it. I almost wish we had homework to assist in the learning! After the first week of class I quickly realized that I needed a print version of the book. To order from the website was only $50.00 and it was the best investment I made all semester. I had to study excessively and make my own PowerPoints to study the muscles, bones, histology and all of the other items we needed for the "lab" portion of the tests. Ultimately, I ended up contacting my professor and going in to the lab to study a skeleton and to visit with her. I did that a few times and I think that also helped her realize that I was serious about learning. If I had to do it over and could somehow find a way to make it work with my full time work schedule, mothering, and being an officer for my coding organization I would have taken this class in person. I now have been accepted to Nursing school in the fall and find myself studying the textbook again! Kreb's cycle anyone?????
  13. I just found this forum and I am soooo happy to finally talk to people who will be in the program. I was accepted to the fall program and just graduated with my AS in Health Services Management this last Saturday. I am now ready to meet everyone in June! I am hopeful that I can make it through this program but I realize I am already pushing myself as usual. I plan to work, do nursing school, keep up with my medical billing and coding organization, and somehow try to chip away at my BS in Health Management at NWFSC! I can't wait to meet everyone! I also live in Crestview so hopefully we can manage a study group!
