UF Accelerated BSN 2017

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello everyone,

I have already gotten extremely worried about the UF ABSN application process even before it starts! So here I am creating a thread to share my concerns with you all who may be on the same boat with me.

At the moment, my biggest concern is that my overall undergraduate GPA (which is from a foreign country) is embarrassingly low (under 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and my upper division GPA is probably even lower, due to my lack of seriousness during my undergraduate studies. BUT, when I came to the US for my Master's degree at FIU, I became more serious with school and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.85. I did read that UF website states only GPA from the most recent 60 credit hours or cumulative GPA from Master's or PhD is calculated for admission criteria, nonetheless, I am still very concerned that overall GPA from all colleges attended will be taken into account, and my undergraduate GPA would have dragged me down.

I am currently working part-time at a home health company as a CNA while taking my pre-requisites, so far I am straight A's and have Microbiology in the Fall and A&PII in the Spring left to be finished. I have no idea how much chance I stand for the UF accelerated program but it is my only hope and dream because all other Universities require a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can share their thoughts with me. Thank you!

Has anyone called/emailed to see when decisions will be sent? This week they will have had the same amount of time between due date and decisions being sent as they used last year (I hope that statement made sense). Just getting anxious...waiting is always the worst

I emailed Kenneth on Monday, and he let me know that decisions will be out by the end of February. No exact date, though.

Does anyone know when the start date of the program would be? The exact date?

Kenneth told me today that the start date is May 8th.

Did he give any other details?

No, but if you have more specific questions, it's probably easiest to email him directly. He's really quick with his responses too.

Hey guys!

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I just got a really good job offer although its not what I truly want to do. It will be a good job to have incase I have to wait until next cycle to apply. The issue I'm having is I need to accept the job by next week but acceptance letter for the program wont be out until the end of the month. What should I do?

Accept the job, and then when you find out you got into UF, just quit. It's only a weeks time. You do have to look out for yourself as selfish as that sounds. They'll understand.

Thanks for responding back! You're right that's I was leaning towards.I just feel bad because the interviewer kept emphasizing how much he wanted someone who's going to commit. But who knows what the future holds, I may not even get into UF at least I'll have a decent job in the meantime. Thank you so much!!!

I'm getting super anxious about decisions!! So many UF Grad school admissions came out this week, whens our turn!?

I knowwwww. I'm getting anxious as well! Lol!! "When's our turn?!" :)

May come sooner than we think then with grad school decisions having gone out!

Hey guys!

I'm new on here but I just thought I'd join the conversation and STRESS ABOUT HOW WE STILL DON'T KNOW.
