UF Accelerated BSN 2017

Published

Hello everyone,

I have already gotten extremely worried about the UF ABSN application process even before it starts! So here I am creating a thread to share my concerns with you all who may be on the same boat with me.

At the moment, my biggest concern is that my overall undergraduate GPA (which is from a foreign country) is embarrassingly low (under 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and my upper division GPA is probably even lower, due to my lack of seriousness during my undergraduate studies. BUT, when I came to the US for my Master's degree at FIU, I became more serious with school and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.85. I did read that UF website states only GPA from the most recent 60 credit hours or cumulative GPA from Master's or PhD is calculated for admission criteria, nonetheless, I am still very concerned that overall GPA from all colleges attended will be taken into account, and my undergraduate GPA would have dragged me down.

I am currently working part-time at a home health company as a CNA while taking my pre-requisites, so far I am straight A's and have Microbiology in the Fall and A&PII in the Spring left to be finished. I have no idea how much chance I stand for the UF accelerated program but it is my only hope and dream because all other Universities require a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can share their thoughts with me. Thank you!

Did everyone send official transcripts into CAS? I didn't realize we had to since we sent them to UF as part of our postbac. I'm ordering them tonight and worried they won't make it by Dec 1st. Anyone in the same boat?

Hi everyone! I am a current UF student applying to the ABSN program! My upper division GPA is a 3.7, I have some experience in hospital settings through volunteering with both the Orthopedic department and most recently, the NICU/PCICU. I also work in a psychology lab for children with autism and I've worked in summer programs where I provide limited medical care for them (feeding tubes, etc). I took all my prereqs at UF and I got two B's in statistics and nutrition which definitely hurt me haha. I really look forward to the next few months and can't wait to hear from y'all!

Today is the day! Anyone else's NursingCAS app still say "Verifying"? I read on last year's thread that UF doesn't ask them to verify documents so it will be left gray.

Application submitted, let the wait begin í ½í¸€

Hey guys! I am also applying to the ABSN program at UF. I am already so anxious! Do any of you know if we will find out via email or a letter in the mail?

Last year it was a letter!

I thought students were notified via email last year.

does anyone know how many students are accepted at the Jacksonville campus and at the Gainesville campus?

There is a second forum on here about UF ABSN! Just FYI If you haven't all found it yet.tí ½í¸‰ There are a lot of us who have been writing in on that one! Good luck to you all. I'm super anxious and hoping to get into Jax campus!:)

Hi all. I'm a little stressing out. When I last talked to Mr. Wynn in October, he told me that I only needed to submit official transcripts with my post-bac application and not to nursing CAS.. All over the nursing CAS application, it said that we just needed to self report our prerequisites and not send official transcripts in to nursing CAS. I contacted him today again because I saw someone on here mention about sending in official transcripts to CAS... and his response was very confusing. He said they did have to be reported to CAS but my application was receieved which means it was fully completed. I emailed him back for clarification and tried to call but haven't heard back and I'm slightly freaking out that I totally messed up. Any thoughts?

Also, he said that decisions will be out in February... I wonder if the decisions will come earlier since the applications were due earlier than last year!

Hey! I would just go ahead and submit the transcripts to NursingCAS. I'm currently enrolled in a course and will be forwarding the transcript over once the course has been completed the the transcript available. I think as long as everything else was submitted by the deadline and UF has your official transcripts then you should be fine :)

Hi everyone, I want to apply for the ABSN program in jacksonville . Does UF accept bachelor's degree from Nationally accredited colleges?
