UF accelerated BSN Summer 2019

U.S.A. Florida

Hello!

It's only May but I am already working on getting my ducks in a row for the Post-bacc application. I thought it would be nice to start a thread so applicants can support each other through the process! I know I have a million questions already and I am trying hard not to pester admissions.

I am so excited to be almost done with my prerequisites and I am looking forward to finally applying this Fall!

I would love to hear about everyone's background, projects, questions, and hopefully we can help each other out.

Good luck to all! We got this!

It varies, but the latest we in Jax have had a class was last semester. Our Pharmacology class was from 1-4, but you will have a different schedule. As far as the clinicals, our hospital clinicals were usually from 0645-1400. Half of our psych rotations are from 1830-2300. And many of us will have to do over night clinicals next semester during our transitions (1900-0700). This is just the hospital clinicals. Your other clinicals (community health clinicals) can vary even more, but will be during the day. I'm sorry if this sounds confusing. The thing to remember is that your clinical hours will vary from semester to semester and will get longer the further you go through the program (i.e. hospital clinicals during first semester for us were 5 hours long. Second and third semester; 7 hours. Our last semester will be a full nursing shift; 12 hours)

thank you SO much!! sorry for all the questions ?

It varies from semester to semester. The first two semesters will be the busiest. During our first semester, we only had Thursdays off (and the weekend, of course). Every other day was either didactic/classroom learning and/or clinical rotations. Second semester was clinicals on Monday/Tuesday. Systems of care 2 class on Wednesdays and Pharmacology on Thursdays. In addition, we had two online classes that were constant throughout the semester. Third semester, the only day we have classes is on Wednesdays. All of the other days of the week are dedicated to various clinicals. Don't know about the 4th semester yet but I would imagine it would be similar to this semester. The program becomes more clinical heavy as you progress through.

Jluv81 described it well! I would def recommend googling the syllabi! It may help you guys get an idea of what to expect. But do remember your curriculum will vary slightly from ours so these things could change, of course.

Good luck to everyone! Try not to be too glued to your computers/phones waiting for emails (ha!)

Good luck to everyone tomorrow - just remember, “what’s yours will find you.”

I saw somewhere that last year the orientation was May 9th, which was a Wednesday. If they're going by that schedule, I'd guess it will be May 8th this year.

For those of us that went straight from first BSN to ABSN we graduated May 5th and then began the program on May 14th I want to say! So it's a quick turnaround if you're a new grad. And to whoever was wondering about summer starts, the program only begins in May!

And the countdown begins...10 more hours

Good luck everyone!! *hyperventilating*

Hi Everyone!

This is a current Gainesville ABSN student, I saw someone post about the JAX Facebook page that has been made. A Gainesville Facebook page has been made by your mentors as well, we will send a link to this thread for people to join it once acceptances have been sent out! *I don't know when that will be*

will all the current students know who is admitted or do we need to contact you to be added to the facebook page (if we are accepted)?

Current students will very likely not be disclosed this info. Jacksonville was planning on having an admin send the link via email on our behalf.

Any current student, what time do the emails come out? 4 or 5? Also, if not selected, is that sent out on the same day as well?

thanks!

Our emails came out at 5:00! You'll probably know right away because the subject line reads like "congratulations!" Or it did for us, at least. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
