UF Accelerated BSN, Summer 2018

Published

Hi all!

It's pretty early on but I'd love to meet and chat with the potential applicants for this program. I also think it'd be great to have this forum in case we stumble upon application questions and such. Maybe some successful applicants in the past may pop in to say hello as well!

What are your feelings about this program or even UF in general? Are you applying to other programs? Where are you from?

I'm with you! I always felt comfortable about who was writing my letters but asking makes me feel like i'm taking up their time. I always get them a gift/ thank you card though (LOL).

The GRE isn't bad though, so I'm glad you're not as stressed about it, haha! Good luck!!! :-)

Good idea!! I didn't even think of that.

I'm stressed about it (depends on the day really :) ) only because I haven't taken a math class that wasn't statistics in over 6 years and math was never my strongest suit. The silver lining is it is not the only determining factor in getting acceptance, and thankfully UF is my top choice and doesn't require it.. until I decide to apply to MSN programs. The struggle! :p

I know! I've always done it to not only thank them but also ease my conscious. People are busy so if they are willing to help you out, they deserve a thank you! :)

I was in a similar boat (Hadn't had a math in almost 4 years when I took it.. also not the best at it). But I felt math was the easiest to prepare for as I did a lot of practice problems! So I would def recommend that if you haven't already. Are you applying to some of those MSN programs that are accelerated for people without nursing degrees or are you talking about one after the ABSN? :)

I agree!

Luckily my brother is hard wired for these standardized types of tests, so he's been helpful too. I use to think I had a pretty good vocabulary until I started looking over that also, hehe. I've just been going over the basics and working up from there. It's been helpful so far.

I am applying to the MSN programs for non-nurses as a back up as advanced practice nursing is my goal. I'm applying to ABSN programs as well with the intention of working towards my NP degree. Just keeping all of my options open, while earning a few grey hair's in the process but it's all worth it in the end :)

Anyone have any updates on when the application will open up? It's driving me nuts! haha How's everyone feeling about everything??

@ SK13

Haha, study buddies! Good luck, I bet it will go swimmingly!

And that's a good plan! Good luck with those applications as well! :-)

I haven't heard anything. I want to email Kenneth but I feel like he's prob. gotten a lot of emails about it so far. I personally feel good about my app aside from needing to get a new letter (which isn't gonna be hard at least haha). I feel much better about the process for UF than USF, which is kind of nuts.

Yeah I feel the same way! USF is very stats based and UF seems to have more of an open mind which I love. I emailed Kenneth just now and he said:

"I would recommend checking in by the end of this week as NursingCAS has to approve all the changes from last year's application cycle which takes a few days after our target open date which is of course on September 1st. Thanks for your patience and cooperation!"

Exactly! I was told they take a holistic point of view but it is the farthest from holistic that I have done on an app. You don't get to discuss volunteering, working two jobs or anything unless you're invited to interview. :( Did you see my latest post about which pre-reqs they use to calculate... I'm freaking out over it... :( haha!

And awesome! I'm glad Kenneth got back to you! I guess we just need to be patient. :-)

I keep checking everyday and it is not posted yet so Im assuming that it will be posted this friday for it to be exactly a week since the original date. Im nervous about the application too especially for the essay part.. I really hope I do well!

I keep checking also. It will show up when the Future Programs is turned on so hopefully it's coming soon!

This may be a tad dramatic but, has anyone mailed in the supplemental post-bacc application with their check yet? I'm debating on holding off because of the hurricane disrupting any mail and I will be mailing my application from Texas. I can't imagine it taking forever to get there but I think I'm just being impatient. :) It's a hurry up and wait game.

FYI it is officially open on NursingCAS my friends.

Good luck to all!!

Is the program only being offered in Gainesville? I don't see the no preference option.. unless it appears later on..?
