UF Accelerated BSN, Summer 2018

U.S.A. Florida

Hi all!

It's pretty early on but I'd love to meet and chat with the potential applicants for this program. I also think it'd be great to have this forum in case we stumble upon application questions and such. Maybe some successful applicants in the past may pop in to say hello as well!

What are your feelings about this program or even UF in general? Are you applying to other programs? Where are you from?

If you email me: [email protected], I can add you into the group!

Hello everyone!

My name is Austin. I was accepted to the 2018 ABSN at Jacksonville. I look forward To meeting with you all! I requested to join the Facebook page yesterday, but I haven't received any response. Is there more than one page established?

I think you may have requested the wrong one! I didn't get a notification for it.

Okay, I'll send you an email. Thanks so much!!

I'll look for the UF Facebook group!

Thanks, I was worried it was just me, can someone add me to the Facebook group?

Ok, great thanks! I looked but could not find it.

Hey guys! When you search for the group, try looking directly under the "Groups" tab. I couldn't find it at first either until modifying the search to just groups. Hope that helps and made sense (:

I'm on FB as Jennifer D. Long

For past students, do classes/clinics follow the UF academic calendar? For example, do we get the 4-day thanksgiving holiday? Just trying to make travel and vacation plans now. Are there many clinics in evenings or on weekends? Did you all get a job before actually graduating? What is the starting pay where you work?

Thanks :)

For some reason I couldn't find the page when I searched, would you mind adding me? My name is Katelyn McGraw and I believe my FB link is katie.mcgraw.14! Thanks in advance!

Yes of course! Just sent you a friend request and can add you once it is accepted!

Yes, you will follow the UF academic calendar and can expect to have all official holidays off. You will probably have an evening clinical at some point, and there's not really a way to anticipate when it will be (unfortunately). The schedule they put out in March will tell you what days they will be scheduling clinicals for your cohort - for example, this semester all of our clinicals are on Mondays and/or Tuesdays. For work purposes, I would just plan to not work on those days at all until you get your more detailed clinical schedule.

I worked at UF prior to nursing school and one of the faculty members I worked with asked me to come back on part time, so I work about 6-10 hours/week right now. Many people in our program work at the hospital, either in CNA or clerk-type positions.
