UF Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

Published

HI:)

I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's Accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.

My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.

But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.

Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?

I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.

Okkk...Sweettooth in the house! Ate three cups of fro-yogurt today because of the anxiety! :) I saw a rant on here about the inconvenience of the late letters taking so long to reach residences. I am not trying to offend anybody but, I must say that even though UF has taken a little longer than expected, a) this IS the first SUMMER start for this program...b) it would make sense that UF would take longer to mail out decisions being that we ARE at the BEST university (public) in the state and would probably have a ton of applicants c) I think it will work to the advantage of those who are outliers or waitlisted because those of you accept other schools with open up spots for those of us who are dying to get into UF d) the bit about April being busy for us who would have to complete immunizations, CPR training etc... We're adults. It's nursing school, right? A lot of those requirements are standard procedure for any nursing program. I totally understand those of you who had to make decisions prior to receiving the answer from UF. That's hard. But, you got into a nursing school, right?! That's great! Good luck! Now, other people have a chance to fill those spots. Ladies & gents, we should all be more careful about insulting the programs (esp. when the coordinator of the program can see it! eek!). Those who are waiting with me, let's *cross our fingers* and hope that we get good news tomorrow. If not, it's petition time, baby! I want in!

No letter today, hoping for good news tomorrow.. Crossing my fingers and toes! Good luck everyone.. Hope we will be classmates soon! :)

Mr. Foote is there a certain type of CPR training that we need to get? What about the immunizations? That way we can get started

Oops.. I don't know why this posted so far down, this was in response to an earlier post.. Sorry y'all!

poodle5 someone asked the same question last year about the cpr and this is what ken had told them:

the cpr certification that you should be looking for is a healthcare provider or a professional rescuer course. i would recommend the american heart association since certification from there is good for two years and would cover you while you are in the program. here's a link to a class locator: http://www.heart.org/heartorg/classc...connector.home

Just a few more days and we will know... We must practice some patience :) lol

thanks marta :)

Anyone think today will be the day?

I got my acceptance letter!!! I'm so excited I can't wait!!

So was it a letter or a packet?

Congrats by the way :D

It was a packet like a big envelope.
