Hey all!
I wanted to start an offical thread for those applying to UF's accelerated BSN for the Summer of 2021! I know its still pretty early but I thought we could use this platform to support one another and share our own journeys through this process.
I am pretty nervous for this process. However, UF's hollistic approach toward each of its applicants gives me hope and reassurance.
Just a little about myself
I am currently finishing my last semester at USF. My last 60 hr credit GPA is pretty average as per UF's usual standards standing at about a 3.4. My cumulative is not too great so hopefully I am not penalized for having a low overall GPA. I have research experience and a publication to my name so hopefully that may hold some weight. Besides that, I have a lot of various volunteer experiences that are non-health care related.
I was specifically curious to know how much weight health care experience holds for admissions. I worked as a scribe for about one year where I was able to gain perspective into the nursing field eventually influencing my decision to pursue nursing. Besides that, I don't really have very much experience working directly with nurses or CNA's for that matter.
I was also curious to know more about the HESI A2 test if anyone knows more about that.
I would love to hear about everyone elses stats and experiences, how you are going about the admissions process in general.
Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

It should keep me occupied. I’m just trying to mentally prepare myself for bad news. Good luck to everyone today. I hope we all get in!
Ohh man, me too! Didn’t drink any coffee ? LOL, but I know how you’re feeling. I’m working until 4:30 today, so I’ll be occupied that’s for sure. As soon as it hits 4:30, I’ll be refreshing my email like crazily haha. Praying for all of us to hear good news. It’s a beautiful day outside, praying it stays that way for all of us.
I also applied to UMass because I'm currently in Rhode Island. They send out acceptance emails randomly, which is totally weird (they don't have a set date to send out all like UF). I understand why UF does it the way that they do. I am probably older than everyone in this forum (probably old enough to be most of you ladies moms ?) and I for thirteen years in positions where I had to interact with the public. Sometimes it's just good to have a set day to know that you are going to have to deal with upset people. They have to be mentally prepared to deal with everyone who got denied as well, along with creating more of a schedule to deal with that so that their workday isn't constantly interrupted. At least, that's how I see it.
Anyway, best of luck to you all! If you don't get accepted, just know that maybe it wasn't your right time. I have already given up a spot in a nursing program before due to health issues. If I don't get in to UF or UMASS, then I'll find a masters program that I like. You ladies are young enough to keep pursing it, though...and should! Don't give up on your dreams and good luck to you all! ❤

Yes ma’am, I couldn’t agree more. It makes a lot of sense why they decided to wait till Friday afternoon to send those emails out because they are already aware of students being upset during this time of year and need enough time to prepare themselves in taking those phones calls and responding to student emails. Thank you for your kind words; I wish you also the best of luck, and pray you continue to stay healthy and for your dreams to come true. God bless. ❤️

Oh I definitely agree. I’m glad they do it that way. I think we just all expected last Friday and it was disheartening. I’m probably close to your age as well and one of the older ones. I have kids in high school. Look at us old ladies trying to make a change. ? I already have a masters so I guess I’ll just keep trying UF and other programs if I don’t get in today. Good luck to you!

Yeah, that’s completely understandable. Maybe -------------------- is the only advisor there, I’m not too sure..... ? I’ll most likely send an email if I am denied and if there’s a possibility to be waitlisted. For those who are planning on moving, I’m praying for you guys because I know this has gotta be real stressful, especially to wait another week to find out. ?
