Hi!
Just wanna start this thread about UCSF RN Residency 2011. For those who applied, have you heard anything back?
Thanks!
Can you please tell me where you found the UCSF RN Residency program application? I'm not quite ready to apply but continue checking the UCSF site. I have seen information about these programs but haven't seen any specifics noted regarding application closing dates, applications, etc. Any information to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
There's a posting right now: https://careers.ucsfmedicalcenter.org:8443/psp/hcmprd_cg/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRAM.HRS_CE.GBL
but I don't know why because the interviews for the PICU are already over and they're not even telling everyone until tomorrow. Maybe it's a fluke in the system. I think you can set up a job search agent to email you notifications for when RN Training Programs post applications. Otherwise just keep searching. When I was in my last semester in May 2010 they didn't post the new grad training applications until June so UCSF on a whole doesn't start accepting applications until later in the game than some hospitals. Good luck! I think it's a really great sign that over the last couple application periods there has only been 1-2 units accepting new grads, and this time it looked like there were at least 12 or so.
wow, did anyone from these forums get a job offer or did we all just have a bunch of cleverly concocted fake interviews?
I didn't get offered the job but a friend of mind was offered a job in the PICU on Monday. She had some inside connections there though, her mom worked in the NICU and her clinical instructor for Peds was the NM for the PICU. These aren't the only reasons she landed the job but they definitely helped! I would try not to consider it fake interviews but rather that those people definitely had an edge going into their interview and probably interviewed very well, that edge + a great interview is what landed them the job. If they had the edge and had a terrible interview they wouldn't have landed the job. Anyways better luck next time to all of us! :)
yea, i have a classmate that got a job in the PICU and a friend that got a job in med surg oncology....i didnt get the position because i didnt score very well on the scenario questions...i have a feeling some people who "nailed it" knew the questions before hand. All good though, UCSF prob aint the place for me...it was a nice hospital though...damnit!

I know someone who was hired in the PCICU without any "connections." It sounds like it came down to the fact that some units had room for external candidates and others didn't. She rocked the challenging interview and is very smart, so she was able to grab one of the few spots open. Like annalynn.victoria said, those people who had worked at UCSF before and did great in their interviews had an advantage over others.
Congratulations coconita!
Hi Everyone! For anyone who has received an offer from the NM of the specific unit you interviewed for, has HR contacted you yet? Thanks!
I received a couple emails yesterday with info re: the background check and pre-employment requirements. You might want to call them if you don't receive anything this week(at least that's what the NM told me).

Hey Annalynn.victoria,
Yes, we interviewed on the same unit. So don't feel bad! So sorry you had to interview when you were sick.
