UCSF New Grad Residency Program April 2021

Published

I just wanted to make sure there was a place to talk about the New Grad Residency Program at UCSF that begins April 2021. Does anyone know how many applications they expect to receive for this cycle? Also, does anyone have insight to which units will open for the October 2021 New Grad cycle?

UCSF does panel interviews 1 candidate at a time but with all managers. Same kinds of nursing questions. Youtube and other forums have great prep courses.  They may or may not be in person now d/t COVID. Very nice, personable, and professional. Numbers of questions varied. One interview, people popped in and out. Look at PRIDE and good luck.

Thanks for the response/info!

For anyone who got the job, or has done a new grad at UCSF Benioff, (first congrats!!), but also how long was the actual orientation part of the program? Ie. How long/ many shifts were you actually shadowing a preceptor?

Question for applicants/current participants:

How important was having ACLS before applying? I am considering taking an ACLS course even though this is not a minimum requirement. Would this strengthen an application or is this not too important?

Anyone had offers from UCSF or Zuckerberg? I’m trying to get an idea of what the RN residency pay is. May be relocating to the Bay area after I graduate fall 22.

You will start of $70.44 as new grad. That what cohort last year started in April. Only ICU and TCU’s need ACLS. If you are in general med surg no ACLS requires for now.

Thank you!

Both contracts are posted online. They both had salary bumps for January 2022. I think most unions have their contacts posted publicly. The only exception is that I’ve never seen Kaiser’s. It’s kind of a fun scroll for when you’re job hunting

Zuckerberg:

Step 1 (0 years RN experience) is $68.37

20% differential for night shift (p 36), 5% for weekends (p 39)

UCSF:

Clinical Nurse I is $72.56 (page 230)

16% differential for nights and 5% differential for weekends

Thank you so much! This is what I was looking for and couldn’t find. You’re the best!

I had an interview for med surg ICU last week

Hello, I am applying for the fall 2021 cohort. Do you mind if I ask you some questions? I can email you or you may email me at [email protected]

Hi,

for those of you who made it through and accepted positions, would you please give me some pointers on the interview process and if there are any certifications I should get other than BLS. I want to better my resume and bolster it to give myself a better chance. I just graduated this past May and passed NCLEX earlier this month. The application period is opening on July 30th and I really want to have a fighting chance.

Any advice, tips, pointers would be greatly appreciated.
