UCSF MEPN 2022

Published

I applied for UCSF MEPN for 2022! Anyone else going crazy waiting for an interview invite? Has anyone gotten an interview invite?

Is this changing anyone’s decision on whether they would accept if offered admission? I am curious if other people are viewing this experience as a red flag or as unrelated to how the actual program will function.

I think this coupled with the MEPN in the thread that said this program is not a UCSF priority is a huge red flag. These programs think because they have big names they can do whatever they want. I turned down UPenn for similar reasons. Though in the case of UPenn, they used their prestige for an outrageous price tag

There’s been two MEPNs in this thread saying concerning stuff about the program, like come on

I am leaning heavily towards Yale. This whole thing isn't the reason but it's not helping. It sounds like aid is super small, and we don't even get financial aid letters until a couple of weeks before the program starts, and we are not a priority? That doesn't feel great. I am a planner and I want to compare price tags, FA packages, and overall vibe etc.

Honestly after this week, I'm 99% sure I'm going to Simmons in Boston. They gave me a generously financial aid package, have been really solid in their communication, turned around admission decisions in less than 2 months, and gave plenty of time for us to decide and submit a deposit. It's really frustrating because I live in Oakland and would love to stay and serve my community and be in familiar surroundings, but it's getting down to the wire, and who knows when I'll know my financial aid package (my Simmons deposit is due Monday).

Decision should be made at least this week.

I really thought it was going to be today. They should have not used the phrase "within a couple of days" in their previous email. It is already shameful for this decision to be delayed this far, and that email should have had the clear idea for timing and schedule for all of us waiting so anxiously.

I called the school today and the person who talked to me didn't know when it is going to be. She said she has been waiting for the team to make decision too.

Yes, that's been my experience with Yale too. Great communication and overall just feeling excited about it because of how admin has been and how organized its been thus far. I am also in the Bay and originally wanted to stay local but now feeling incredibly excited to see what life is like on the East Coast.

Awesome! I applied and ended up declining Yale- their program is amazing and I bet it'll be great. I'm also very excited to try the east coast! Best of luck to you. Hopefully we get these answers from UCSF sooner rather than later.
