UCSF MEPN 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, I just wanted to start this new topic for those like myself who are interested in applying to the MEPN program for the 2020 cohort.

@StanfordBee Do you know when we hear back about financial aid or what next steps are? Not sure where to go from here haha!

@NMtobe no idea! I posted the same question on FB group and someone said we should be getting stuff in the mail regarding this. I am just looking at the tuition cost and hope I qualify for something ?

How do you know?

To be honest, word of mouth, but it's been consistent across the years.

@PreNurseC I’m PMHNP too! Did you get in? I’m curious how big the cohort is this year. I don’t know what my place is on the list or how it works. I just know admits have a couple weeks to decide and that they should have a clearer picture in a week or two.

Sorry for the late response! I did get in. Have you heard any news yet? Did you apply somewhere else? I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Good luck and don’t give up hope.

Gave up my seat last night ! Congratulations to the psych person who gets it. And good luck to you all it’s been a pleasure being on this journey with you all!

CONGRATS on so many PMHNP acceptances. Could you give me (an ABSN student) advice on what I can do to be a good applicant for PMHNP programs? Did you have years of experience or a very high GPA?

Hi Everyone! I'm also looking to apply to the PMHNP program this year. For those of you who got interviews and/or acceptances, what do you feel like made you a good candidate? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm looking to apply to the PNP program this year and would love any advice/tips from others that have gotten into the PNP program last year on what they feel made them a competitive applicant?

@lemonlove that's great! I'm just finishing up my prereqs now. Are you currently in the mental health or nursing field? I wonder what type of experience they're looking for.

I am currently in mental health, most my experience is more on the social work side of things so I hope thats OK. What about you? I've been planning to do this for a while now, but its still feels like it snuck up on me!

I am a psychotherapist (master's in social work) in private practice and I also work a few days a month at a psych hospital. I graduated a long time ago and I don't have any academic references, everyone I can get recommendations from are therapists in the field. So I don't know if that's an issue since from what I understand, recommendations is what they look at the most. I'm really excited to be doing this but am quite concerned about not being a strong candidate, so I'd love to hear from those that were accepted last year!

WOW!! You sound like a very strong candidate to me! There is a thread for the MEPN 21 applications open now if you are interested in that as well.
