Glad to hear from peers. Just eagerly waiting to hear back :) I applied to the CNM/WHNP specialty.

Hi @snebae, welcome to the boards. The thread will be a bit quiet until around December when we start to hear back from UCSF about interviews invitations. The interview dates will be the last two Fridays of January 2018 if our cohort continues along the same timeline as applicants from previous years.

In the meantime relax and enjoy some time off after all your hard work getting your application in. Once you have reached 15 posts, please take the the survey on the first page so that we can keep track of which specialty each of us has applied to. Perhaps it can be of help to future applicants when they begin their own applications in the coming years.

Thank you! I have a small question, would you think it is beneficial to update UCSF about recent updates. I'll be volunteering at a hospital come January? I just wanted to see if that was something that was done.

I guess it can't hurt but I haven't seen anyone mention that they updated their volunteer experience after the submission deadline has passed in current or past threads.

The best way to know is to just ask and reach out to [email protected] or SJ and see if they can point you in the right direction. If you decide to go ahead and ask, from what I understand from reading previous threads, the admissions committee beings to meet in November to decide on who they would like to invite to interview so better do it earlier rather then later if you want this piece of information to be included for consideration when they review your application.

If anyone else has any thoughts feel free to chime in.

I think that is something you would want to discuss in your interview since you would have some experiences to reflect upon. Otherwise, it is still pending and wouldnt really help you much at the moment. But if you feel strongly about it and would regrertt not mentioning, you should give it a shot. I'm all about putting your best foot forward.

How's everyone holding up?! Only another 3-4 weeks to go. :nailbiting:

It's grueling, to say the least. It really is good to have the holidays as a distraction. 3-4 weeks seems like an eternity...

Same. I can't believe it'll be three months since we applied. Final stretch!

Hi everyone,

I just realized that we haven't had much activity on the thread for quite awhile now so I decided to re-read the posts from previous years and it looks like interview invites for last year's cohort came out around Dec 5th which is next week! I didn't realize that interview invitations were coming up so soon. I don't know why I had it in my mind that UCSF doesn't release interview invitations until the end of Dec.

If there are applicants out there who haven't chimed in, please take the survey on the first page to let us know which specialty that you are applying for to help future applicants. You will need to post 15 times before you can take the survey.

Good luck to everyone and hopefully we will all get some good news next week.

I freaked out when I got an e-mail with the subject "UCSF MEPN 2018."

I unfortunately cannot vote because I haven't posted enough... But good luck to you and everyone out there!

Lol, sorry for startling you. I just wanted to reactivate the thread before (hopefully) the invites start to get sent next week.

According to last years thread, UCSF sends invitations through the mail.

@NoLiesJustLove, do you know if the admissions committee has met yet?

The website says typically they send them out second week of December, but earlier is always good :) I received acceptance to SFSU's master's program, a very close second choice for me, which starts in January, before we hear back from UCSF, so honestly I'll be relieved if I don't get an interview and can stop agonizing over what the right thing to do would be.

Congrats @yawp on SFSU, I know that the program is extremely competitive! So if you get an interview into UCSF and subsequently get admitted, how is that going to work since you would have started your program at SFSU already?

I looked at the threads for both 2016 and 2017. Both years they sent out invites to interview via regular mail but in 2016 the letter was dated Dec 3rd with the letter getting mailed on the 9th. Most people received their letter in the mail between the 11th and 15th of December. But last year, I guess they released the letters early since people started posting that they were invited to interview on Dec 3rd.

Maybe there aren't as many applicants this year and they will send out the invites early? When I looked back at the the 2016 threads, there was a lot of activity with people commenting pretty regularly. It dropped quite a bit last year in 2017 and this year, there haven't been many people saying that they applied. I've asked on other threads why some people didn't apply to UCSF since it is a great program and they were also from CA and some of the responses I received was that they couldn't meet the 3 year stats requirement in time that was implemented this year.

What do you think @yawp, do you feel that there are less applicants this year or is it just my imagination?
