With just a few weeks to go before the application opens...

Any thoughts, questions, advice or information to share as we anxiously prepare?

Thank you so much for your insight!

This definitely eases my mind after just submitting my application a few minutes ago. :D

Hi all,

I just submitted my application too! Whoo hoo! Hopefully everyone can take a moment to relax now. :D

I have one question though:

My GRE scores were sent on August 19th, however, it says that my scores have still not been matched to my application. I double-checked and I indeed sent the scores to the correct location. I followed the directions on the email that Steven Johnson sent a couple of weeks ago and submitted my application anyway. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Take care everyone!

Good Luck EVERYONE!

Anyone have a completed application yet?

What's everyone doing to keep their minds off of the wait?

After my application is complete, I will be much more relaxed and probably catch up on my reading.

Hello Interested MEPNs!

I'm a former UCSF MEPN student who now works at St. Luke's Hospital as a midwife. St. Luke's Hospital is starting a volunteer doula program, and we're looking for interested volunteers. If you'd like to participate, please send me a message. Bonus if you speak Spanish!

Thanks!

Warmly,

Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,

I'm a new member on this forum and looks like allnurses changed their policy so I can't send you a message just yet, but can you tell me more about the doula volunteering position? Super interested in women's health and did something similar in college so would love to see if I can fit this program in my current schedule. It sounds like an awesome opportunity!

Thanks!

Only a few months away before we find out if we received interviews...

For those that did the AGNP MEPN program at UCSF, would you say work is at all feasible? I am thrilled to accept an invitation to UCSF if I get in but will need to work. I would be working 2-3 days a week and will need to miss 1-2 days of school per week.

I have heard that the 1st year work in inadvisable, but I've met a couple of MEPN graduates who said they started working as an RN for the final two years...but they were in the FNP program so I don't know if it will be any different for AGNPs!

hi mepn2017, I am a current MEPN going into AGNP. The first year, your specialty does not matter, everyone has the same schedule. There are a few people who work and I think it is do-able. You will be busy all of the time and have to study when you get home, but some people make it work. However, I don't think it would work for you to miss class a few times a week. You will likely not pass and won't make it through the program. The people who do work have worked here and there in the evenings or weekends. AND let me be clear that I only know of one or 2 people who work out of a class of 60ish.

In the master's portion, I think we are generally only required to be there three days a week so many people work. However, like I said, I don't think you will make it through MEPN missing classes. Best of luck!

You can work during years 2-3 as an RN, but jobs are challenging to find without a BSN. People do it, but it can be hard to find that first job. There is one person I know who is working for year 1 of MEPN, but it's taking a toll on them. Not advisable.

The Admissions Committee is meeting. Interview notices to follow, probably soon.

I just got my invitation to interview for the CNM/WHNP specialty. I'm shocked. Blown away really. It came in the mail and I live about 30 miles outside of SF.
